    New York and New Jersey
Okay here are the facts. After Boston, I've spent more time in New York than any other city. I tell tourists from Louisiana and Ohio how to get around. I walk really fast. I know my way around Macy's, Sak's 5th Ave, and Bergdorf Goodman. The window at work looks out to the Empire State Building across the street. Balthazar is on my speed dial. I can put on 1010 WINS and I know how to adjust my travel from the L.I.E. to the Throgs Neck, to the Major Degan, to the Holland, Lincoln or GWB. I know the names of the 4 staten island bridges. I know where to get hot dogs, Pizza, Papaya Juice and Korean Barbecue. I ride the NQWR and the 456. I know what a bitch it is to drive out to the Hamptons.

I am a psuedo-New Yorker. I have never had an official New York address, but I consider it my second city. My life longs plans include living anywhere below 14th street, and later at Columbus Circle.

At the same time, I'm a psuedo-Jersey Boy (which means I can never really be a New Yorker). We've had a second home there (Jersey City!) for 7 years. When you tell people that, they think you must be smoking something. I know well enough that the Jersey Shore is warmer and nicer than the water in New England, and that the "real" Jersey is on the Garden State Parkway, not the Jersey Turnpike. My favorite shopping mall is the Short Hills Mall, not the Braintree South Shore Plaza.

A nice pic of me and the NYC 2003 gang in the village.

The view from our building in Jersey City. We lament the absence of the Twin Towers which once stood there.
