Dogs, like their cousin the wolf, are Carnivores. They have evolved over thousands (even millions!) of years to catch and eat prey animals. The idea of a Commercially Processed And Rendered (CRAP!) food is fairly new. And it certainly isn't doing our furry family members any favors!
Many of the ingredients in kibble, such as grains, are completely innappropriate for Carnivores and actually cause many chronic illnesses and/or problems (think allergies, bad breath and obesity).
Another thing to consider is the process used to make these foods. Several days of extremely high temperatures kill all beneficial vitamins and minerals in the ingredients used. And many of these ingredients are of the lowest quality to begin with. How much nutritional value can there really be in hair, and other floor sweepings, that are left over after the good stuff is processed for human consumption?
And if all this isn't enough to make you cringe, think about all the chemicals used to preserve these foods so that they will remain edible (I use that term loosely) on the shelves month after month.
And yet, year after year, people spend large amounts of money to buy this so-called "balanced food" and pat themselves on the back for a job well done. If your dog could talk, what do you think he would say? |
