~Breeding for the Total Dog...Health, Brains & Beauty...In That Order~
Chris had previous dog training experience, which is what led him to the school. I had grown up on an exotic animal sanctuary and so had a lot of experience with many different kinds of animals. My parents run Summer Wind Farms Sanctuary (their website address can be found on our "Links" page) which is a rescue facility for exotic animals. They house over 200 animals ranging from large carnivores, to non-human primates. So, I grew up working with animals and always knew that my career would somehow involve them. I originally wanted to become a veterinarian, but I have a very hard time dealing with death, so I began to explore other options that would still allow me to spend the majority of my time with critters. That's what led me to dog training. And through that, Chris :^)
At the present time, I'm working for my parents' facility. I do all the book-keeping and secretarial work. And Chris is working for a GM affiliate. We are working towards our goal of opening our own all-breed dog training facility. We took a big step toward achieving this goal when we purchased a farmhouse, on 20 acres, next door to my parents' sanctuary. We are currently in the process of applying for a small business loan so we can begin building our state-of-the-art kennel facility. We also keep busy showing and training our own personal dogs. We are very proud of our furkids' accomplishments and look forward to adding many more titles to their resumes over the years!!!
Our goal is to produce healthy, stable, loving companions with the temperament and drives to compete in the various Performance events, as well as the correct conformation, breed type and movement to be competitive in the breed ring as well. Dogs you can live with, work with and be proud to be seen with! The Total Dog!
