Middletown High School's Fellowship of Christian Athletes huddle held its first meeting on November 28, 1994 at the Middletown United Methodist Church. There were 17 students present at that first meeting, and 24 students were there at the second meeting on December 5 in the school's auditorium.

FCA meetings were held in the auditorium during the first six years of the huddle's existence. Generally, 20-30 students attended each meeting.

During the summer of 2000, four young ladies from MHS (Stephanie Grossnickle, Katie Hafer, Anna Halse, and Kim Scritchfield) attended FCA Leadership Camp in Easton, Pa. They returned to school that fall "on fire" for the Lord, and they came back with a lot of ideas that helped attendance at huddle meetings to double.

At the first meeting of the 2000-01 school year on September 6, 45 students and 11 staff members worshiped God in the school's choral room, where praise music filled the air in a new environment for our school's FCA huddle. More than 140 students and staff members gathered in the stadium two weeks later for "See You At The Pole."

God began moving mightily in Middletown High School, as attendance at FCA meetings averaged 45 each meeting. The huddle was featured in "Sharing the Victory," FCA's national magazine. (Click here to see the Article.)

Middletown's FCA group was also the topic of a feature story in the Frederick Gazette newspaper on April 11, 2002. The headline read, "Fellowship of Christian Athletes: Making Leaders Out of Youth." (Click here to see the article)

Former National Football League player Ray Sydnor spoke with our huddle members on May 8, 2002.

Since the 2000-01 school year, our FCA huddle has continued to meet in the choral room, generally on Tuesday mornings from 6:45 to 7:15 a.m. There are usually around 50 teenagers present each week focusing on their love for God !
