| There is much controversy and great differences of the teaching, can a Christian be cursed?" It is my belief through much survey and surveillance of the scriptures that a Christian can be cursed. If we can believe in blessings certainly there must be cursing. It is a clear fact that the bible says that Jesus hung on the tree, and became a curse for every man to redeem us from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13). We nevertheless must still deal with curses. Yes Christ did redeem us from the curse of the law, but according to Revelation 22:3 the last book in the bible says "And there shall be no more curse but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: So the book of Revelation lets us know that curses will exist until the last days. What Jesus Christ accomplished on the cross was giving every child of God the freedom to get out from under curses. This was one of His final acts by hanging on the cross. But clearly from Revelation 22:3, curses still exist and must be dealt with in the practical Christian walk. The same argument is true in regarding healing. The bible says "by His stripes we were healed (I Peter 2:24), but are all Christians healed today? No. But can they be healed if they reach out in faith to receive what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross? Yes. So it is the sane principle with curses. The problem with dealing with curses is that up until now, they have been generally incomprehensible and hidden from Christian thought. Do you notice that while the Christian church don't believe in curses various religions around the world have become experts at using curses (such as witchcraft, voodoo, hoodoo, tribal witches, warlocks, witchdoctors and medicine men, etc.) against the people of God, while Christians themselves are largely ignorant of how to deal with curses. All this despite the fact that Jesus clearly enabled us to do so! We see throughout the bible that there are numerous verses that speak how the child of God, the born-again believer is under God's protection. Isaiah 54:17, Ex. 15:26, Ps 103:3, Prov. 10:22, Ex. 12:13, Ps. 125:2, Ps. 34:7, Isaiah 49:13-17, 2 Chron. 32:7, Deut. 31:6 20:3-4. Note: In the book of Proverbs 26:2 it also says, "a curse undeserved shall not come." So we as God's children never need to worry about anyone casting a spell, on us or working any kind of black magic against us. We never need to worry about being under the control of witchcraft or bound by any hex, voodoo or hoodoo. We are under the blood of Jesus Christ. Isa 54:14 In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee. We also read in Joshua 1:9 God told Joshua to "Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." God also told Joshua that he would give him the land everywhere his feet walk on. But when Joshua and the children of Israel came to the battle of Jericho, they came against a small city called Ai, and the children of Israel could not win the battle because they were under a curse because of one mans sin! The bible say that they made themselves accursed" Joshua 7:12. God's people, who God had blessed had made themselves accursed. They had an accursed thing in their midst, and therefore needed to repent and destroy it. So the people that God had blessed were now affected by a curse. You see the only way Gods people can be cursed is by disobeying the word of God and unrepented sins in your bloodline. The most important fact to remember is not so much the fact that God can curse you, but do you know that you can curse yourself. You can make yourself a curse or bring yourself under a curse just by being out of the will of God. Once you get out of the safety zone and move in rebellion to the word of God you open the door to demons, Satan, curses both spoken and cast upon. The book of Job 1:10 say that there is a HEGDE of protection around us and that is why Satan needed permission from God to afflict Jobs life. But we can remove our own hedge, "he that diggeth a pit shall fall into it, and who so breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him. Eccl 10:8. Once the hedge is broke it leaves an open door for the devil to come in and occupy. There is the curse from God upon all who break His law. The Apostle Paul wrote, "CHRIST REDEEMED us FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW, BEING MADE A CURSE FOR US, for it is written. Cursed, is every one that hangeth on a tree". All who do not accept the Lord Jesus Christ as their substitute are under the curse of the law? Christ was made a curse for us on Calvary's tree, but the curse on Satan remains, and the curse of the broken law on all who stand on their obedience to it; but the CURSE is REMOVED AT CALVARY FOR ALL WHO WILL ACCEPT THE SUBSTITUTE PROVIDED BY GOD. Calvary is the one and only spot where we get away from the curse of God. There is no curse there. You escape the curse of Satan, and the curse on sin-you escape in Jesus Christ. |
