Can a Christian Be Cursed?

One major argument within the Pentecostal and Charismatic movement is that a Christian can not be possessed with a demon? The word "Possessed" in the bible is misused. In our english speaking, we know that the word possessed means to own. Satan has no legal right over us. However the word possessed in the GREEK means "daimonizomai" which means to be demonized; to be under the power or influence of a demon in certain areas; to have a demon. YOU WILL NEVER FIND IN SCRIPTURE THAT A DEMON HAS TOTALLY TAKEN OVER A PERSON AS THE WORD POSSESSED. Because of religious traditions and doctrines, many believers think that once they have received the rebirth or got born again that they are somehow IMMUNE, or free, from the strongholds, bondages and curses that they have accumulated during a lifetime of sin. It is a true fact that once a person gets born-again their spirit received life. I believe that demons can enter into another part of a persons body.  It is the human spirit that received life, when we confessed our sins and were born-again.   John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Apostle Paul tells us in I Thessalonians 5:23 that man is a TRIPARTITE being: spirit, soul and body.

HOW CAN A CHRISTIAN HAVE THE HOLY SPIRIT
AND DEMONS DWELLING IN THE SAME BODY?

Man is made up of has 3 parts spirit, soul and body. The only part of you that gets born-again is your spirit. Your hands, did not get born-again, nor your feet. The only part that gets born-again is your spirit. The Holy Ghost came to dwelt and live in the spirit. It is the will of God that we be sanctified holy, spirit, soul and body. 1 Thess 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Demons can remean in the soulish or physical area of a believers life. It is just like the Temple that was in the Old Testament which had three parts. We have the Holy of Holies, representing the spirit.

The Holy Place representing the soul, mind, will and emotions. And you have the Outer Court representing the physical body. When Jesus went into the temple to drive out the thives he did not go into the Holy of Hollys they were not in there. They were selling in the Outer Court. Our bodies are called temple of God. 1 Cor 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? Just as Jesus came in and cast out the thives, we to need our temple cleaned through deliverance. The body which is our outer court needs deliverance, also our soul which is Holy Place our mind, will, and emotions. God showed the prophet Ezekial what was in his Holy House. Ezek 8:7-12 And he brought me to the door of the court; and when I looked, behold a hole in the wall. then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door.

And he said unto me, Go in, and behold the wicked abominations that they do here. So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, (demons) and abominable beasts, (unclean spirits ) and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall round about. And there stood before them seventy men of the ancients of the house of Israel, (these are the most holy, religious believers, pastors, elders and church mothers) stand in the midst of them stood Jaazaniah the son of Shaphan, with every man his censer in his hand; and a thick cloud of incense went up. Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth.

All of this was in the temple and I don't care how saved you are God can look into our temple and see some stuff too!  You will never know it on the outside, but it's in the DARK! We need to ask God to dig some holes in us and lets see what is really in there cause church folks know how to hide! Bob Larson who is a preacher based his assumption that christian can not have a demon based upon his traditional teachings until one day this woman asked him to pray for her because she had demons. She claimed to be a Christian. I thought she did not understand what it means to be a Christian. I agreed to pray for her. During our discussion several demons begin to manifest. I was puzzled because I was always tought that light and darkness can't dwell together. I asked the demon spirit which part of her do you Possess?

The demon answered "I do not have her spirit that belongs to God. I entered into her before she became a Christian when she was involved in the occult. Satan's mean goal is to keep believers ignorant of the nature of evil spirits (demons), and many churches would prefer that they were not even mentioned. Some Pastors and Leaders choose not to teach on this portion of God's ministry because they are fearful of things beyond their understanding. The result of this ignorance is that multitudes live in needless torment. One of the deadliest misrepresentations of the truth of God is that a believer should not be concerned with thoughts that a demon could be their problem. Some preachers teach that when a believer falls through some kind of sin vise it is the work of the flesh according to Gal 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings... And that is so true, but you cannot keep practicing sin and not expect to not come out with a demon.

When we practice willful sin, Satan eventually sends one of his demons that is compatible with that particular sin to dwell within us. Each time we give way to that sin that spirit takes over. And this is why I believe a believer can have a demon. (demonized). After a believer experiences the "new birth," he is a new creature; however, if he finds he still has problems of walking in his old nature instead of the Spirit. His mind has not been renewed yet by the Word of God, so unless he reckons the "old man" dead when tempted, he fails God and gives in to his "flesh." To maintain a spiritual walk in God one must totally dedicate his life to God and continually choose the path of God. The "flesh" of man is under Satan's dominion as it is part of the old Adamic nature.

The "flesh" and the "world" are under Satan's influence, so when we sin we have yielded to an attack by Satan in an indirect way. Romans 6:16, "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves, servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness ." The way to get rid of the devil in these instances is to submit to the Lord and resist Satan so that he will flee (James 4:7). We are to crucify the flesh and choose God's way in the situation. "And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts" (Galatians 5:24). However continue sin in ones life will cause evil spirits or demons which Satan uses to fasten upon some aspect of the "flesh" that has not yet been overcome. These demons do not relinquish their hold unless compelled to do so. Some argue that a Christian cannot have a demon in him.

They say he now has the HOLY SPIRIT and the Holy Spirit and evil spirits cannot dwell together at the same time. Because of this erroneous teaching, many are bound by dark powers when they could be free. This is contrary to Scripture as also James is speaking to Christians when he admonishes them in James 4:5, "Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, the spirit that dwelleth in as lusteth to envy?" II Corinthians 7:1 states, "Having therefore these promises, dearly be-loved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God." The Holy Spirit certainly needs no cleansing, but man's soul. The Holy Spirit certainly needs no cleansing, but man's soul or flesh has filth in it and many times filthy (unclean) spirits need to be cast out. Jesus talked about our bodies being houses.

He made it plain that if, after cleaning, we were not continually filled with the Holy Spirit, a demon could return:
NOW DELIVERANCE IS THE CHILDREN'S BREAD. "Deliverance" is for believers. The unsaved do not seek to be delivered, satan already has them. Why would I waste my casting out a demon from and unsaved person if he does not want to give his heart to God. The demon would come back. "When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Some children are born under a curse and have demons that cause their unpredictable behavior.

Parents are in ignorance as to why some children beat their heads on the floor in rages, scream and yell uncontrollably, bite themselves, or have continual nightmares. Many children do have demons and need to be set free and MEDICINE is not always the answer! Mark 9:20-21, "And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming. And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, of a child." Demons can attack with no sin involved on the victims' part as in the case of children.

The sins of the fathers bring a curse, and there is a "chain of iniquity" that needs to be broken. "Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me. Many people desire to be free, yet continue to find themselves in bondage. Recognizing the need for deliverance is the first step to freedom. We need to realize also there are certain conditions one must meet in order to gain permanent deliverance from demon bondage. We first must be a child of God to receive help.

Deliverance is the children's bread. If you are not "born again," simply invite Jesus to come into your heart and save your soul. Accept God's Word that says He loves you and wants to give you abundant life. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly" (John 10:10).

To receive this abundant life you must repent and turn from your sins and accept God's provision of the shed blood of Jesus Christ as the only way to cleanse you. Sin has separated you from God, and receiving Christ restores you to fellowship with Him and you become a part of the family of God. "But as many as received Him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God..." (John 1:12). PRAYERS OF DELIVERANCE After making a verbal confession of our faith in Jesus Christ (the only name that brings deliverance), we need to confess the sin that gave the devil access to our life. This is where we need to acknowledge any cult or occult involvement. Next, we should break Satan's legal right to our lives by renouncing each sin and its effect upon our lives as a lie of the devil, and then claim the truth of God's Word in that area. After these steps are taken, we then can out loud command the demons to go in the name of Jesus.
