| In Memory of Marion Smith Shirey |
| A wonderful daughter, wife, mother, sister grandmother, and friend Born to Paul and Hazel Smith on April 3, 1931, she was welcomed home by sisters Martha Mae ,Pauline, Frances, Jenny, Estelle and Hazel and brothers Walter and Paul Jr. Later on in life 18 yrs later. She married a local boy by the name of John T. Shirey and few years later the couple welcomed their 1st child Johnette. Then in 1957 (some years later) welcomed daughter Rhonda Lynn. 17 years later the wedding of Johnette and Randall was to be planned. A year later Marion and Johnny welcomed 1st grandchild Randall Scott Day. A few years later John Eric Day was born. Then in 1979 the wedding of Rhonda and her long time sweetheart James L Cooke was also to be planned and then in 1988 The Shirey's welcomed their 1st granddaugther Megan. Then in 1994 Scott welcomed a daughter Mia Day and she was welcomed home by Big Sister Blair Searcy which made The Shirey's 2nd great granddaughter. Year passed and Johnette lost Randall to a heart attack and Big Mama made sure that she stayed close to her daughter through it all. Then in 2003 Scott finally asked his long time girl friend to marry him and then we got the biggest surprise of all and Eric got married. Then they announced Micaela's pregnancy. Big Mama was excited to be welcoming a new great grandbaby. However cancer set in and she died and didnt get to see baby girl Tyler Beau welcomed into the world feb 23rd 2005. But back in Dec. Johnette's 4 yrs boyfriend asked her to marry him. So there has been a lot of excitement in this family.... Oh how Big Mama would have been so happy. Marion was welcomed into Jesus's arms on September 23rd 2004 and hugged and kissed by her Mother and Father, Sisters Frances, Martha Mae, Hazel and brother Billy and son-in-law Randall Day She left here on earth to cherish her memory, a loving husband of 55 years John Shirey, daughters Johnette Day and fiance Bobby, Rhonda Cooke and husband Jimmy of Ringgold. 3 grandchildren, Scott Day and Fiance Rachel, Eric Day and wife Micaela and Megan Cooke. Great-Granddaughters Blair Searcy and Mia Day and one great granddaughter to hear about her, soon to be baby girl Tyler Beau. Also left behind were sisters Pauline McFarland and Estelle Brantly of Homer, Virginia "Jenny" Whittington of Meadville, Mississippi. Brothers Robby and wife Claudette of Bastrop, Buddy and wife Bobbie of Bossier and Paul Smith Jr and wife Totsie of Taylor Arkansas. Neices, Debbie, Martha, Teri, Vickie, Diane,Suzie,Cheryl,Susie,Cici,Leslie, Kathy,Kristy, Robin, Mary Ann, Carolyn,Stephanie,Kim,Kay,Sharon,Hazel Nephews, Robert,Perry, John David, "Scooter", and "Spunky" and Larry Also left to cherish her memory were 4 dear friends, Faye McKenzie, Peggy Height,Fannie Cook and Dorthy Taylor! |
