Breeding Programme

Our breeding programme is highly controlled in that litters are planned based only on demand.   To that end we require a small non-refundable deposit, which allows us to establish a short waiting list.   When you contact us we will indicate to you the amount of time you might have to wait for a puppy.   This is primarily to protect the dogs and to ensure each one has a suitable home to go to, although I could quite easily keep them all, but I suspect my marriage would not survive that!   There is nothing harder than saying goodbye to a litter, believe me.

Despite the fact that many Border Collies are sold on a handshake and a lot of those deals work out very well we use a Purchase Agreement to clearly indicate the terms of sale.   This is not only to protect the breed and the individual puppies we have sold but also for the sake of our reputation.   As well, the Purchase Agreement provides you, the consumer, a health guarantee of three years against Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) and five years if the complaint is diagnosed as hip dysplasia.   It also contains a buy back clause should for any reason you decide that you can no longer keep the dog.   This is to ensure that none of our pups are ever placed in a shelter or humane society.

The neutering or spaying of all our puppies is mandatory and only in exceptional circumstances would this requirement be waived.   Normally owners do not receive their registration papers until we have been notified in writing that this has been done by a qualified veterinarian.

If you are seriously interested in obtaining a puppy from us we would strongly recommend that you come and visit if at all possible and meet the prospective dam and sire.   Thereafter regular visits with your puppy during those first two months are extremely beneficial.   While we realize that this is seldom possible, when it is, we actively encourage it.  Our puppies are released to their new homes between 8-10 weeks after the litter has been conceived.
