Marikina hosts Multi-Lateral Program on waste management

Marikina Mayor Ma. Lourdes C. Fernando will
host the Multi-Lateral Training Program on Waste Management
geared towards sharing the city’s Best practices in
solid Waste Management among Asian and African cities.
The series of trainings aims to come up with
a local action plan of effective waste management among the
26 participating regions to be funded by the United Nation
Development Program. Participating cities from Asia are coming
from Bangkok, Thailand; Jakarta, Indonesia; Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia; Phnom Phen, Cambodia; and Marikina City, Philippines;
while African countries are Tanzania, Gana, Ethiopia and Kenya.
Slated on Oct. 27 to Nov. 6, 2003, the project
will showcase waste management programs being implemented
in Olongapo City and Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority. Furthermore,
there will be an educational/ exposure trip to Makati Central
Business District and Marikina City.
Invited
as guest speakers are Department of Environment and Natural
Resources Secretary Elisea “Bebet” Gozun and Metro
Manila Development Authority Chairman Bayani F. Fernando.click
