This is a Tribute to my best friend, Mr. Eric Coker.
Eric was my roommate in the Fall of 2000.   He was a teaching assistant in the history department and he committed suicide at the end of the semester.   I guess he had a lot of pain and was very depressed.   Nobody knows what he was thinking.   The guitar that Eric played for the picture is a Martin and is owned by Steve Hatton.   Click on the photo to see more pages devoted to Eric.  Photo by Steve Hatton
This is Eric with pop-legend James Taylor (middle).   My good friend Jesse Cooke (Silent Bob) is standing on the other side.   I bet Eric nearly creamed in his pants when he was standing next to James.  James Taylor was Eric's all time favorite musician.   If not for Eric, I would never have listened much to James Taylor or very much pop music.    Eric was really excited about meeting James and he also had an autographed record album by James's brother Livingston Taylor.  Photo by Steve Hatton.

Eric was not just Eric Lee Coker.   He was also known as Car Guy or Maverick Man.   Eric drove a 1977 Ford Maverick with a 250 cubic inch inline six and a three speed automatic transmission.  His car was unique and lets just say that it was colored in a disgusting shade of brown.   It was almost magical to ride in the car with him.    His Maverick was shit brown.   Even though, he is gone, I can still tease him about his old car.

On May 12, 2001, Eric Coker was posthumously awarded a Master's of Science Degree.   The degree was accepted by Lee Roberts.   Eric Coker was the first student at Texas A&M University-Commerce to be awarded a posthumous degree.   Pictures from that event are coming soon to this site.
This is a picture of Eric playing Steve's guitar in front of the Cowhill Express Coffeeshop in Commerce.
These are some various pictures of Eric that were taken by Steve Hatton during some of their various adventures.   Photos stolen from Steve Hatton's website.
This is a picture that Eric took of himself in the sideview mirror on Steve's car as they were crossing the Rio Grande on the way to Roswell, New Mexico.
Editor's note: Black and White photos stolen from Steve Hatton's website.
