On 23 January, 2003 it was a holiday for Netaji's Birthday and Akash came to call me to play with him. We were playing badminton when Akash hit the cock and it went straight to the verandah on the 1st floor of our flat. The people who live in that flat had moved to Mumbai s no one was there.
We decided that I would take Akash on my shoulders and he would retrieve the cock from there. Being afraid that if the restless Akash would accidently hit my specs, they would fall and break, I took them off and carefully kept them on the seat of a nearby motorbike that was parked in the garage. We managed to get the cock down -- but afterwards when I went to find my glasses, I saw that neither the bike nor the glasses were to be found anymore!
Everyone was informed but after a long search nothing came up. The person who owned the bike said that he did not see any specs. That very evening we went to give an order for a new pair of glasses and we got them two days later. The disappearance of the first set of specs, however, remains a mystery.
