2008 Application Packet (20K)

MANA del Norte fundraises throughout the year to provide Latinas residing in northern New Mexico with opportunities to continue undergraduate and graduate studies at any accredited, 2 or 4 year post-secondary school in New Mexico. Scholarship applications are distributed to financial aid offices at the various colleges and will soon be available on-line.

Finalists are chosen largely on financial need but other criteria such as GPA and a strong personal statement are also deciding factors. The statement must support both, the student's educational aspirations and her desire to support her community through volunteer efforts.

The scholarship recipients are awarded at MANA del Norte's Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Scholarship Banquet in September. In its first 10 years, MANA del Norte has awarded over $37,000 in scholarships. Fund-raisers,raffles and contributions from individuals and local businesses help support the scholarship fund.
