Terry Ortega

Terry has been a member of MANA del Norte for several years, initially as a Friend, and then upon full membership, was elected Vice-President for Membership, and served in that position for two terms. She then served a two-year term as Vice President, and in March 2005 was elected President. In February 2007, Terry was re-elected to serve a second term as President. Terry has also served either as Chair or as a member of MANA del Norte�s Scholarship Awards Committee. �It was such an honor to serve on this committee because the end results truly reflect the hard work and commitment of MANA del Norte and its members.� She was born and raised in Santa Fe, and has two handsome sons, Santiago and Javier. Terry holds a Master of Arts degree in Southwest Studies from New Mexico Highlands University. She is presently a Legal Assistant with the law firm of Simons & Slattery, L.L.P. In 2003, Governor Bill Richardson appointed Terry to serve on the New Mexico Historical Records Advisory Board, which gives her an opportunity to �stay in touch� with the New Mexico historical community; she was reappointed to this Board in 2006.

Dolores has been a member of MANA del Norte for many years. Past service includes serving as Vice President of Membership and Vice President. She has worked with nonprofits in Northern NM for over 25 years and currently serves as the Executive Director of Con Alma Health Foundation, New Mexico�s largest health foundation with assets of over $29 million. Past positions include founding Executive Director of NGO NM, New Mexico�s Nonprofit Association; Program Director at the Santa Fe Community Foundation; Director of Graduate & External Programs/Assistant Dean at the College of Santa Fe, and Executive Director of Women's Health Services. She has a Master's of Social Work (MSW) and recently completed coursework requirements toward a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior and Development with a specialization in Nonprofit Management and the Nonprofit Sector. As a lifelong learner, she shares MANA�s philosophy of the value of education and looks forward to taking a more active role in MANA and to continuing to build the membership base for this dynamic organization. Dolores, a native of Espanola, is married to Paul Roybal, a retired Espanola High School teacher and coach. They have 5 children and 9 grandchildren, their pride and joy.

I was born and raised in Santa Fe, NM. My late father was from Galisteo, NM, as was my mother. She, my sister and two brothers and their families, continue to reside in Santa Fe, as well. I have two sons and a daughter, a daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. After receiving a Bachelor�s degree in Social Work from the College of Santa Fe, I worked for 28 years with the State of New Mexico in various direct service, training and management positions. I retired three years ago and am currently working on my Master�s in Social Work degree at New Mexico Highlands University. I have been a member of MANA del Norte for approximately four years, serving as Hermanitas Coordinator, Scholarship Committee Member and Chair.

Jennifer Herrera has been a member of MANA del Norte for approximately four years. Although she participated as a Friend, she has enjoyed the organization and would like to further her involvement as the PR Coordinator. Jennifer is married and has four wonderful children, two boys and two girls. She is a graduate of the College of Santa Fe, holding a BA in Political Science and a BA in Secondary Education. She also received an AS in Criminal Justice from Northern New Mexico College. Jennifer is a Pre K Teacher and a small business owner. Her interests include serving her community in various organizations like the local fire department, the PTA and the Parent Advisory Council. In her spare time she enjoys scrap booking and traveling with her children. She looks forward to serving the organization as the PR Coordinator.

Nichole L. Medina

Nichole Medina was raised in Santa Fe, NM. She received her BA in Secondary Education and her MA in Education Administration at the College of Santa Fe. She plans to attend law school to become a public interest lawyer for the northern New Mexico community. Nichole is a 2004 scholarship recipient of a MANA del Norte scholarship and in 2006 was awarded an AvanZamos Fellowship through MANA National. Nichole would like to see MANA del Norte grow large enough to extend a hand to the Latino community in northern New Mexico. "I believe that education and the justice system will continue to be the catalyst to improve the quality of life for minorities."

Victoria was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. She is a first generation college graduate and received her MA and BA from the University of Colorado. She married her High School Sweetheart and when their children were 4 & 5 years old, they moved to California. Victoria knew early on that she had an entrepreneurial spirit, and in 1980, she and her husband developed a business plan and began business as concrete contractors. The corporation flourished and employed over 50 employees and served the California area for over 20 years. Duran Enterprises, won business of the year from the County of San Bernardino, CA, for economic development, employment and community involvement. Being a community advocate, she was appointed to serve as Commissioner on the Status of Women, and as President of the High Desert Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

In 2001, she moved to Santa Fe, NM to be closer to her family that lives in Santa Fe. �I am proud to say my Great Grandparents and Grandparents were from Dixon, Penasco and Santa Fe.� While in Santa Fe, she has worked in the non-profit sector, including serving as Partnership and Program Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Victoria has been a member of MANA Del Norte for 2 years. She began by coordinating a partnership between Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Hermanitas program. In addition, she will serve a second year on the scholarship committee, which awards scholarships for higher education. She believes that MANA del Norte is the concrete that will help to build a foundation for our youth today and tomorrow.
