The Arabica coffee has its' origins traced back to the tropical highlands of Eastern africa. Legend has it that an Ethiopian goat herder noticed how his goats stayed awake all night after grazing on wild coffee cherries. Out of curiosity he tried the berries himself, and found out that this mysterious fruit had the same effect on him. The goat herder was full of energy  , he was running and dancing around with his herd all day. He told the local monks of the strange effects of the berries. Whereupon , the monks used coffee to keep them awake through their long devotionals . They dried the bean and made beverage from it. Coffee Arabica was believed to have been introduced to Yemen from Ethiopia by traveling merchants through the trade routes of accross the Gulf of Aden.
