GONDAR
  Gondar was the center of the Ethiopian Empire in the 17th and 18th centuries , known for its magnificient castles and churches
Gondar , located in the foothills of  The Semen Mountains , became the capital of Ethiopia during the reign of Emperor Fassiledes (1632-1667) , who built the first of the many castles.
Gondar , during this time was a thriving center of theology , trade and the arts. Debre Berhan Sellasse and Qusquam are some of the churches found in Gondar.
The churches of Gondar contain ancient Gondarine manuscripts..

Emperor Eyasu I (1682-1706) ,

Emperor Fassiledes's bath is filled with water once a year for
Timket ceremony (Epiphany, when Christ is believed to have been baptized in the Jordan).
In the 19th century emperor Theodros moved his government to Debre Tabor and Mekdela.
