Malta
The Island of Bees and Honey

Since long time ago, the Maltese Islands, were known for their special blended and spicy honey. People of the ancient Mediterranean used to look for, and also steel honey, as they were aware of the special characteristics of this bee product.

The marvellous honey characteristics are attributed to the vast range of wild flowers in a considerable small area as this land. About 1000 species of flowers are identified in Malta mostly wild flora like; Wild Thyme Thymus capitatus, White Clover Trifolium nigrescens, Bitumen Clover Psoralea bituminosa, White Mustard Diplotaxis erucoides, and Borage Borrago officinalis. Adding to the special taste of our honey are the carob, citrus and stone fruit trees.

Our honey is a blend of the seasonal flora, and not of just one particular crop, although the largest amount of pollen and nectar, generally influences the taste, like in the case of wild thyme, citrus and carob honey. Apart from the unique spicy taste, our honey is also very much requested for its healing properties especially in the case of colds and cough.

Honey is always honey; tasty and healthy…imagine our special Maltese Honey, with its unique characteristics…oh what a Honey!

Tasting is Believing!
