Welcome to Malloy's Irish Pub.
Named for my father's family who came to America from Dublin, Ireland, Malloy's is a quaint and comfortable neighborhood pub and sporting hall with a diverse clientele. True to tradition, this Irish pub has a friendly atmosphere between locals and staff. Malloy's has the courage to be characterfully old fashion much of the time - a hospitable bar to relax in. There are time's, though, when a party is needed and we celebrate holidays with exuberance.
You'll find us on the corner at the junction of Lafayette Av, 7th St, & 3rd Av.

Malloy's Irish Pub opened August 15, 2005.

The original owner of the property, back in the 1880's, was an Irish Imigrant named Dunnigan. He came to America and opened Dunnigan's Drug Store. He worked the store on the ground floor, and his family lived upstairs. The Dunnigan Subdivision in which Malloy's is located was named for him. His daughters grew into women and married. Mr. Dunnigan retired and the property was turned over to one of the daughters' husband. Prohibition rolled around and the son-in-law turned the building into a gin join and bordello! That's when our  beautiful, antique bar was put in. This may also explain why we have an EVP of one of our ghosts responding quite loudly and clearly, "Gin!" when the question was asked, "What is your favorite drink?" (See "Haunted Malloy's" for a photo of one of our ghostly patrons.)

Since those days, the Malloy's building has been a gambling hall, a restaurant, and several other taverns, lounges, and clubs.  For a brief time in its history, the building was even home to a gay burlesque-style entertainment bar.  What a wild and zany life this old building has lived! Now, once again owned by a person of historically close Irish heritage, the ol' girl must be pleased to house a truly Irish pub that is cozy and inviting...a pub in which a new patron becomes a new friend before long.
