Faerie Folklore
According to Celtic folklore, Faeries, though they can be beautiful, are not always the most kindly creatures. Of course, folklore says there are good Faeries, too, but you can't tell them apart until it is too late. Faeries are known to be mischievious, at best. They are shape-shifters and thieves. They bring ill health to those who anger them...paralysis, cramps, depression, childbirth problems, skin diseases, lice, and more. The "Slippery Faerie" finds great pleasure in causing people to drop and break things. Just imagine how many pint glasses and bottles of beer a pub would lose if Slippery Faeries moved in and played their nasty tricks!

Leprechauns, on the other hand, are industrious and fun-loving. They're hard workers, whether cobbling shoes or banking (minding the stores of leprechaun gold), he does his job well and cheerfully. He loves his drink, but rarely gets so drunk he cannot wield his cobbler's hammer. Do him a good turn and he'll grant you a wish; capture him, and he'll share his pot of gold with you...if you aren't foolish enough to accept his bribe.
That being said, is it any wonder why...

At Malloy's we have Leprechauns, not Faeries!
