David Allen, son of Robert Allen and wife Ann Reynolds. He was born about 1730 Virginia and died 1804 in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
How is the Johnson Family linked to David Allen's family? Both Nancy and her brother William named a son JOHNSON. The name descends down several more generations. Does anyone know how the Johnson name connects to this Allen family?
Francis Wray to David Allen for love and affection for my son-in-law, 75 acres on crooked Creek, corner of James Johnson, William Allen's spring branch, Chiswell's line. Signed Francis Wray. Deed Book 2 page 499 Lunenburg, VA.
4 November, 1755 Lunenburg County, Virginia Deed Book 4 page 31
At the signing of this deed, David and his family are preparing to remove from Virginia and settle in Johnston County, North Carolina where his father-in-law Francis Wray, brothers, Reynold, Young, William are residing. In October 1759 David of Johnston County, North Carolina and Allen Gentry of Lunenburg, Virginia deed to Richard Haggard. This land was located on Crooked Creek and being part of the same portion of land deeded to David by Francis Wray. The Allen Gentry of Lunenburg, was the son of Samuel Gentry and "Ann Allen". No known relation.
About 1755 David and Martha moves southward into Johnston County. They are there by October, 1759 per Deed Book 5 page 499 and above ref. to transaction of land deed.
In 1788 David and Martha makes another move, what prompted this move to South Carolina? Was it because other family members were going southward? That is the thought. Not proven yet, but it thought the father in law of David Allen was already in South Carolina. One Francis Wray was there by 1771 per land record. This may or may not be the father in law of David Allen, but records indicate this is his father in law in old age. Francis had 100 acres surveyed out in 1771, in Granville County and either side was vacant land and one side Thomas Louelep?
In 1789 David received from his brother William half of a 320 acre of land, that William got in a land grant in Spartanburg, South Carolina. "IF" David's brother was William of Mecklenburg, then why did William get a land grant in South Carolina? The William of Mecklenburg never lived in South Carolina and this leads me to believe that the William of Mecklenburg is not the brother of David Allen.

No marriage date is known for David and Martha. However, they were married by 5 May, 1752 when Francis Wray, deeded him property as follows;
