Mallar, Devendra Kula Velalars live in about 23 districts of Tamilnadu India.
Hundreds of Literary evidences from the Sangham Age and hundreds of
archaeological evidences prove that Mallars (Pallar, Kudumi, Kudumitchi,
Kudumban, Mallar, Devendirar, Devendra Kula Velalars, Pannaadi, Palakaan,
Mooppan, Vaaykaaran, Panikkar) are the decendants of the great Tamil kings
Chera, Chola and Pandiyars.
One of the great Archaeologists and former Director of Archaeology, Tamil Nadu
Dr. R. Nagasamy has endorsed this history of Devendra Kula Velalars in his Lecture
on The History of Devendirars in Tamilar Panpaadu Aayvu Mandram in Coimbatore on
11.11.2001, published in Tamil Monthly Mallar Malar, December 2001, pp 6-18.
9th and 10th Century AD Nigandus (Dictionaries) describe Mallars as great warriors
and great agriculturists.
