Knitting for Charity

A new group has started in the Mallard Bay Community, dedicated to providing knitted items for hospitals.  According to Kay McKinney, founder of the group:

"The knitting I complete is donated to a non-profit organization called "From The Heart".  We knit baby items as well as items for cancer patients and the veterans at McGuire Hospital. Examples are baby hats, sweaters, booties, 12"x 12" square baby blankets, chemo lap blankets and hats, wheelchair totes and slipper socks. These items are knitted by volunteers and collected for "From The Heart", located in Richmond, VA.

My hope is to form a permanent group in the Mallard Bay community. I would like to meet at the clubhouse once a month, maybe twice a month from 10:00am to 12:00pm. YOU MAY COME TO THE GROUP AND LEARN HOW TO KNIT ALSO! Patterns as well as some knitting yarn and needles are provided for the group."

Experienced knitters and beginners alike are welcome.  Meeting days and time may be subject to change. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, Oct 19, 2009 from 10:00am to 12 noon in the clubhouse.

If you have any questions, please contact Kay McKinney at 580-4487 or e-mail her at [email protected].
