Rama, son of Dasaratha of Surya vamsa (dynasty) was an incarnation of Vishnu. This Avatar took place to save the rishis (sages) from the evils done by the asuras (demons) particularly Ravana. He is the model of human perfection, an ideal son, obedient and devoted to his parents. He is an embodiment of all virtues. His reign is called Rama Rajya, meaning the rule of righteousness bestowing all happiness and prosperity. Lakshmana is a manifestation of the serpent king Adisesha, who acts as the bed for Vishnu. He was born as one of the brothers of Rama. As a dutiful devoted brother he followed him in all his journeys, including the period of exile in the forest. He was Rama's shadow. Sita, Rama's wife, is no other than Goddess Lakshmi. She took this incar nation to serve Rama. She is the ideal of womanhood; she wields undisputed sway in millions of hearts. To her the simple lives of saints were more joyous than all luxuries of courts. Hanuman, a manifestation of Siva, was born as the son of wind (Vayu) and Anjana Devi. He became a friend of Rama during his exile He served Rama with pure love and devotion, without expecting any fruit in return. He was thus a karma yogi. Bacause of this, he was sent as an ambassador to the court of Ravana to get Sita released from captivity. Wherever Rama's name is uttered, Hanuman is present invisibly. DATA SHEET:
