Is Yhwh, the Same God as Allah? Part 5

Part Five

Did the Arabian People Retain the Worship of YHWH?

By the time of Moses, according to the Torah, Ishmael's descendants were idolaters and they were following the false god, Baal of Peor. Which aroused the anger of the Lord God...

"And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit harlotry with the daughters of Moab. And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods; and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. And Israel joined himself unto the Baal of Peor; and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel." (Numbers 25:1- 3; ASV, JPS)

"Your eyes have seen what the LORD did in Baal-peor; for all the men that followed the Baal of Peor, the LORD thy God hath destroyed them from the midst of thee. But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive every one of you this day." (Deuteronomy 4:3 - 4; ASV, JPS)

Consider;
We are told that all of the gods of the nations, except Israel, were false gods. And that by serving these god's the people of Israel did provoke the Lord God to anger;

Judges 2:11 - 14; "And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served Baalim: And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to anger. And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth. And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies" (KJV, ASV, JPS)

Thus to say that Ishmael and his descendants, kept the knowledge of the Lord God alive in their midst goes against the evidence of the Bible.

This argument is supported by many historical accounts, from which we see that before Islam, "Allah" was a pagan astral deity, with possible origins in Babylon and strong ties to the god's known as Baal (lord, husband).

Many scholars agree that YHWH is not Allah?

Yusuf Ali, Yusuf Ali's Translation of the Qur'an (foot notes) p. 1619-1623, 1445
It will be noticed that the sun and the moon and the five planets got identified with a living deity, god or goddess, with the qualities of its own. Moon worship was equally popular in various forms...It may be noted that the moon was a male divinity in ancient India; it was also a male divinity in ancient Semitic religion, and the Arabic word for the moon (qamar) is of the masculine gender. On the other hand the Arabic word for the sun (shams) is of the feminine gender. The pagan Arabs evidently looked upon the sun as a goddess and the moon as a god... The Pagan deities best known in the Ka'ba and round about Mecca were Lat, Uzza and Manat...They were all female goddesses... the daughters of Allah.

Al-Qattan, Sheik Ibrahim, Lecture on Monotheism, I P O Journal, p. 26-2:
Allah was the highest deity, and his name was inscribed in stone by Jewish traders along the Arabian trade routes. These paganized Jews also called him Rahman, while the Arabs called him Allah.

G. J. O. Moshay, Who Is This Allah?, p. 138.
Historians like Vaqqidi have said Allah was actually the chief of the 360 gods being worshiped in Arabia at the time Mohammed rose to prominence. Ibn Al-Kalbi gave 27 names of pre-Islamic deities...Interestingly, not many Muslims want to accept that Allah was already being worshipped at the Ka'ba in Mecca by Arab pagans before Mohammed came... history is not on their side. Pre-Islamic literature has proved this.

Ibn Warraq, Why I Am Not A Muslim, p. 42.
Islam also owes the term "Allah" to the heathen Arabs. We have evidence that it entered into numerous personal names in Northern Arabia and among the Nabatians. It occurred among the Arabs of later times, in theophorous names and on its own.

J. Wellhausen, "Reste Arabischen Heidenthums," p. 218, 219<
At first Allah was the title used within each individual tribe to address its tribal deity instead of its proper name. All said 'Allah', but each one had its own deity in mind. The statement 'the god' (al-ilah), which became the only usage, became the bridge to the concept of an identical god which all tribes had in common'… While the rituals performed are still addressed to the respective deities, Allah is seen as the creator, the father and with that the superior Lord. But he is viewed to be too general, neutral and impersonal a Lord.

George Braswell Jr., Islam.
Hubal was the chief God (Allah) of the Kaaba among the other 360 deities. Hubal was a statue likeness of a man whose body was made of red precious stones whose arms were made of gold.

E.M. Wherry, (A Comprehensive Commentary on the Qur'an, p. 36)
In pre-Islamic times, Allah-worship, as well as the worship of Baal, were both astral religions in that they involved the worship of the stars, the sun and the moon.

Caesar Farah, Islam: Beliefs and Observations, p. 28<
There is no reason, therefore, to accept that Allah passed to the Muslims from the Jews and Christians.

Muller, Herbert J, The Loom of History, p.264:
Muller reports, in 400 BC, in nearby Persian writings, that they wrote, "Allah is exalted" among other gods. This was found across the river from Babylon, but it shows how Allah had moved his influence well beyond Babylon.

Langdon, Stephen H, The Mythology of All Races, Vol V
Allat was a Babylonian, or earth and moon goddess. Her consort Allah was simply the god who impregnates the earth. Allah at the time of Muhammad was the high god, while Allat was his consort.

Hitti, Philip, History of The Arabs, London, p.100-101:
The Arabs of Saba in South Arabia inscribed HLH in some of their inscriptions for the high god. With the vowels supplied this becomes Hallah, and later, Allah.

Quennel Gale, Is Allah really God or Elohim?
The star and crescent of Islam are clearly based upon the moon goddess, Allat, ..... The moon and Venus connection to Allat and Al-Uzza are one of the most embarrassing matters for the Mullahs of Islam.

Encyclopedia of World Mythology and Legend, I.61.
Allah, the moon god was married to the sun goddess. Together they produce the three goddess (the daughters of Allah), Al-Lat, Al-Uzza and Manat. All of these gods were viewed as being the top of the pantheon of Arab deities.

A Conclusion of the Matter.

This brief examination and comparison of "YHWH" as presented in the Bible and "Allah" as presented in the Qur'an leads me to conclude that "Allah" is not and cannot be the same God worshiped by Abraham and described in the Holy Bible. The contradictions in attributes and nature between "Yahweh" and "Allah" are too numerous to pass over, and moreover there is no way that we can reconcile these contradictions.

The origins of "Allah" are not with YHWH nor with Israel, but those that were worshiped in error. The idols and "gods of the people that were round about them." Allah is not the name of the Self Existent Eternal One, his name is YHWH. He has told us not to associate Him with other god's.

Should I then say that "Baal" is YHWH, the "Shiva" is YHWH, that "Zeus" is YHWH, that "Jupiter" is YHWH, that any other previously worshiped in darkness can be He?

Linguistically and Historically we can find no relation between Allah and YHWH. Indeed we find more evidence to the none relationship of these two names than we do to support the claim. Biblically there is absolutely no relationship between YHWH and Allah. For the Biblical narrative speaks clearly of not associating the god's known as Baal, Bel etc with YHWH.

And perhaps most telling of all, in light of the knowledge of YHWH and the Bible, and my recent studies of Muhammad, Islam and the Qur'an is this passage from Jeremiah 7: 9, "Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;" (ASV)

There is only One God on this Christianity, Islam, and Judaism agree. He is the Creator and Sustainer of All. But Islam denies all the previous prophets and revelation, while at the same time claiming to honor and follow the same god. Islam claims to follow YHWH, but does not honor His previous revelations nor the Messiah, and Islam changes the sabbath, the Name of the One True God.

But we can not name Him by any name other than that which He Himself has declared. Why then should we call Him by any name other than that which He Himself has revealed to us, YHWH, The Lord God.

There is but One God - He has adopted us and calls us His Children in Christ Jesus. His personal name He has told us is YHWH. There is but One Savior of us all - Our God in Christ. It is at this point that others who claim to follow and honor the Lord God YHWH, divert from the previous revelation which we hold too!

In this they do not, by their god's, honor the Lord God YHWH or The Messiah.

"Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father:" (1 John 2: 22-23; ASV)

Beware of False Prophets.

Beware, any person who would sanction deception and lies is not of God, does not know God and does not honor Jesus;
How do we know this to be so?

Consider:
"Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour." (Exodus 20:16 ASV)

"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father it is your will to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and standeth not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof. But because I say the truth, ye believe me not." (John 8: 44-45 ASV)

Allah is claimed to be the personal name of God in direct contravention and opposition to that which The Lord God had revealed previously to the Prophet Moses. Thus the Lord God’s name of the Bible and Jewish Scriptures has been changed to that of some other and in this the Lord God, YHWH by name is thereby dishonored!

"Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit." (Matthew 7: 15-17)

"Ye worship that which ye know not: we worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth: for such doth the Father seek to be his worshippers. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship in spirit and truth." (John 4: 22-24)

"Brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and those among you that fear God, to us is the word of this salvation sent forth....... And when they had fulfilled all things that were written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a tomb. But God raised him from the dead: and he was seen for many days of them that came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are now his witnesses unto the people. And we bring you good tidings of the promise made unto the fathers, that God hath fulfilled the same unto our children, in that he raised up Jesus; as also it is written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee......Be it known unto you therefore, brethren, that through this man is proclaimed unto you remission of sins: and by him every one that believeth is justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses." (Acts 13: 26, 29-33, 38-39)

".....The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach: because if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved: for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be put to shame. For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek: for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich unto all that call upon him: for, Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10: 8-13)

Therefore I say, "Repent, turn away from idols and dis-belief. Confess your dis-belief and enter into life, for the Lord God is a jealous God, a just God and does not change. He Loves us all with a love greater than any other; He has declared to us the Good News of Salvation and Eternal Life, so choose this day whom you will serve, the Lord God or idols and gods unknown to Him and powerless to save."

What would any Christian feel if some other person unknowingly or deliberately refers to YHWH as Lucifer, Abaddon, Zeus. Would we not feel offended? When others claimed other names and titles for YHWH was not YHWH offended by such?

Thus I Conclude...

From the Bible, Islamic writings, and History that Allah is but another reflection of the spirit of the antichrist. A destructive force, which aims only to keep people blind and hostile toward the Gospel. Or can we say that the Messiah is the Son of the antichrist?

Allah was known long before Muhammad took the Name and added it to His religion. Proof of this is seen in Muhammad's father, Abdullah (the servant or slave of Allah). This god as described within the Qur'an does indeed have many things in common with Judeo-Christianity, however Muhammad and this god deny the Messiah. They both deny His death, His resurrection, and in this do they deny the Lord God of the Bible who's name is YHWH.

This god is not the same Lord God of the Bible!

1 John 2:18 "Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time." (ASV)

1 John 2:22-23; "Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father:" (ASV)

Muhammad and his "Allah" deny Christ so they do not Have The Father. Therefore as Muhammad does not have the Father, Muhammad does not then speak by the authority that he claims. For the god Muhammad and Islam follow denies the revelation and salvation of the God Of Abraham, The Lord God of the Bible.

They cannot therefore be the same.
