Step 1: Your group will first have to research general information about DDT and take good notes. The information you should gather is below:
1. What is the chemical nature of DDT? 2. What is DDT used for? 3. What are the benefits and limitations of using DDT? 4. What is malaria, how do you get it, how do you prevent it?

Step 2: Each member will assume a professional identity while working on this project. Once you determine which professional identity you will assume, gather information using the links below on your specific research. Keep good notes through your research because it will be used to create a group presentation supporting or opposing the worldwide ban on DDT and presented to the United Nations. Your decision will have a worldwide impact!
ROLES
Toxicologist- Your job is to research the chemical nature of DDT and determine how it impacts the environment.

Politician- You are the head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and are very concerned about your political image. You are to research the political aspects of the DDT ban controversy.

You keep up with all of the various environmental studies done by organizations such as Greenpeace. Your job is to research what DDT is used for and what effect it has on the environment.

Malaria is very common throughout your village. In fact, you have seen your first-born child die from malaria. Your job is to research what the connection of malaria is with DDT.

Step 3: Your group will come together and share the information you have learned through your research. As a group, you will have to determine if you oppose or support the worldwide ban on DDT. You will have to support your opinion with the information you gathered individually. The decision to ban or not to ban DDT is a difficult one, thus, you will have to be prepared to compromise or change your beliefs.
Step 4: You will be given a storyboard in which your group must collectively plan out your PowerPoint slide presentation supporting your group's opinion on the DDT ban decision. Computer work may only be started once the storyboard is completed.
Step 5: Create your PowerPoint presentation on supporting or opposing the worldwide ban on DDT. Enjoy
