He travels on the road with Kagome in seach of shards of the Shikon Jewel. He is stubborn and unyielding, and has a hard time expressing his feelings. Inuyasah's costume is derived from the kariginu, the festive robes of a shrine priest. The nenju necklace he wears carries a powerful spell which allows Kagome to control him with a single word. Because of his human half, Inuyasha's powers are different from those of full-blooded monsters - a fact that the Shikon Jewel has the power to change.Jaken:It is for this reason that he wants the Jewel of Four Souls; so that he can become a full demon. His older brother, Sesshomaru, is full demon resulting in the two often clashing. He is often egotistical, rude, and cute. Although he is a demon, he usually does, begrudgingly, end up being the "good guy."
He originally planned on using the Jewel to become human so he could live with Kikyo. However, due to a number of unexpected events that are later discovered to have been Naraku's doing, he ends up pinned to a tree by Kikyo's spiritual arrow for 50 years. It is then that Kikyo's reincarnation, Kagome stumbles into the fuedal era and pulls the arrow from Inuyasha's shoulder. A series of events after this lead to the two forming a reluctant team to retreive the shards of the Sacred Jewel. During this quest, Inuyasha inherits Tetsusaiga, a sword made from his father from one of his father's fangs to protect Inuyasha's human mother. However, it isn't until Kagome accidentally pulls it out of it's base (think of the sword in the stone here) and he acknowledges his desire to protect this strange human girl that he is able to weild this powerful weapon. It is later discovered that Tetsusaiga also keeps his demon blood in check as long as he is holding it.

Kageromaru:Kikyo's younger sister who carried out the priestess' wish that the Shikon Jewel should be burned with her remains. Now 50 years later, she is head of the village and the priestess who protects the village adjacent to Inuyasha's forest. She is the first to realize that Kagome is Kikyo reincarnated. She lost her right eye in a battle 50 years earlier. Shinto priestesses were once masters of festivals who used sorcery as well. It is Kaede's spell that binds Inuyasha to Kagome by means of a string of prayer beads and Kagome's spoken word - "Sit!" As sister, guide, friend, and counselor, she helps Kagome in her search for the Shikon Jewel by offering advice, teaching her meicine, and helping treat the groups battle wounds.

She is cheerful, active and curageous, with a strong sense of justice.Kagura:Working with Inuyasha to recover the shattered shards of the Shikon Jewel, Kagome routinely travels into Japan's past through an old, magical well on her family's property. All this time travel means she's stuck with living two separate lives in two separate centuries, and she's beginning to worry that she'll never be able to catch up to her schoolwork.
Kagome is the 15-year-old reincarnation of Kikyo. Initially the Jewel of Four Souls was implanted in her side. It was discovered when Mistress Centipede bit her. Being the reincarnation of such a powerful priestess, Kagome also posseses some special powers. These include the ability to cleanse shards of the jewel, and to see or feel where they are in order to find them. Kagome is also a remarkable resourceful girl. She isn't your usual clutzy, ditzy heroine. In fact, she's just the opposite. She does well in school and can handle herself quite well in almost any situation (she uses brains more than brawn to get out of sticky situations). Despite being in the past most of the time, she still manages to keep up with her schoolwork. Of course it doesn't help that her Grandfather keeps telling the school that she's got a different disease everytime she can't come to school.
Legends of divine power come down from ancient times. In the Chinese history known in Japan as Gishi Wajin Den, third-century Queen Himiko was described as a "servant of evil who often deluded her pwople." The priest Kuukai, who established a temple in Koyasan, was known for his suprenatural power. Kagome's power gives her arrows and evil-destroying aura and purifies the polluted shards of the Jewel.

When she was a priestess, she didn't have much freedom, but the revived Kikyo acts more freely to fulfill her desires. She is a master archer. Her costume is that of a Shinto priestess, a white blouse and a pair of red hakama.Kirara:When she died, she was cremated along with the Jewel. She is later resurrected as the girl Kagome. Despite this, Kikyo is later reborn in a body made of her old bones and clay and her soul is drawn out of Kagome's own body. If Miroku cannot find Naraku and defeat him, then he will eventually be swallowed up by the hole. Although he's somewhat promiscuous when it comes to women, Miroku is actually a pretty nice guy. The Jewel of Four Souls, "Four Souls Jewel," or The Sacred Jewel. The four souls are Aramitama (courage), Nagimitama (friendship), Kushimitama (Wisdom), and Sakimitama (love). Naobi is what it's called when the 4 souls work together and combine as one within a soul. The jewel is evil when possessed by someone with dark desire and good when possessed by someone with a pure soul and good intent. Because it originated from the conflict between the souls of the priestess, Midoriko, and the demon that killed her, the Demon Slayers could not handle the Jewel and entrusted it to Kikyo for purification. The Jewel is burned with Kikyo's remains after her battle with Inuyasha and disapears for 50 years until it is found by the Centipede Woman whithin Kagome's own body.Shippo:The Jewel of Four Souls is a mystery. Though his ability to transform can be extremely useful, he often retains his bushy little tail or just looks silly (like that big baloon thing he becomes), and he can't hold it for very long.Sota Higurashi:This little spirit becomes quite attached to Kagome, but often argues with Inuyasha, especially when he feels it's Inuyasha's fault when Kagome returns to her own time for short periods. Once Shippo starts traveling with these odd companions, he becomes part of the core of their group is rarely seen without the other two (Kagome and Inuyasha - though Miroku and Sango join them later on).
