Just located behind Antiteasis, there is Blacksoup Cafe + Artspace. Just from the name itself, Blacksoup is a cozy cafe with art as its general motif. There are photographs all over the place and even a piano at one side of the room for anyone to play.
THE PLACE
Blacksoup is a spacious cafe. It can accommodate approximately 15-25 persons in the indoor area, plus 8-15 people outdoor. There are a lot of framed photographs on the walls, and even on the tables. It is such an aesthetically pleasing place because art is literally everywhere.
WHAT’S UNIQUE
What sets Blacksoup apart from other cafes, aside from all the art, is the fact that they actually have the initiative of the “suspended coffee.” A suspended coffee is a cup of coffee that can be pre-bought by customers for random people who needs it, particularly the homeless. It’s like a cup of kindness from strangers to strangers.
Aside from this wonderful initiative, Blacksoup Cafe + Artspace stays true to its theme by hosting different art events from time to time. It can be a photo exhibit, a poetry reading, or even a film showing. They also often have live music there at night.
THE MENU
Pinoy cuisine is the game of Blacksoup. It offers a variety of food choices from appetizers, rice meals, vegetables, pasta, and desserts. Their mango turon with vanilla ice cream is a must-try (95php). It might seem a bit pricey, but its taste makes up for it. It’s basically slices of mango fruit and cream cheese rolled up in lumpia wrapper, paired with two scoops of vanilla ice cream. It’s the perfect combination because the coldness of the ice cream fights the hotness of newly-cooked turon which bursts with flavor in the mouth. Their nachos are also tasteful, which is priced at 100php.
