Well, first of all, to enter the dungeon, you need a Gameboy Color and a DX cartridge.  Go to the graveyard and push the graves in the correct order:

3  4  5
2  1

Push 1 down, 2 to the left, 3 up, 4 right, and 5 up.  If 5 doesnt budge and it gives you the message If you have no courage, you have no strength.  Gravestones wont move for cowards, then you must go back and defeat the boss of any level you set foot into.  If it lets you in, then enter the staircase.
Talk to the skeletons and tell them their colors.  The way up will be open now, so go up.  Defeat the enemies on this screen and the right door will open.  Go right.  Hit the upper left red statue.  Then hit the bottom right red statue.  A chest will appear.  Open it for the compass and go right.  Hop across the colored tiles to the right.  The tiles will turn into different colors, green has 3 more hops, yellow has 2, and red has 1.  After a tile loses it hopping power, it becomes a regular pit.  Knowing that, go right a screen and hit the enemies with your sword.  They will curl up into a ball.  Pick one of them up and throw it into its matching colored hole.  After both are in their holes, a chest with the Stone Beak will appear.  Open it and go down.  Defeat all of the enemies and the doors will open.  Go left and hop across to tiles to the chest.  Open it to get a small key.  Go up and youll be back in the room where you first saw the hopping tiles.
Go right and up.  Hop across the tiles and go up.  Hit the bottom right statue, then hit the upper left statue 2 times.  The statues will all be blue and a key will fall.  Grab it and go right.  Unlock the door (its best to defeat the enemies first).  Go up and defeat the Buzz Blob.  Sprinkle Magic Powder on it and itll turn into a blob.  Hit it with your sword as many times as you can before it turns into the banana shape again.  Repeat the process until the monster is defeated.  Go left and push the top block and the bottom block to the left.  Push the middle block down or up.  Open the chest for the Nightmare Key.  Save and Quit (walking to the start or playing Manbos Mambo work too).
Go up and defeat all of the enemies on the screen for the right door to open.  Go right 2 screens and unlock the door.  Go up and defeat the Sub-Boss by hitting it with your sword repeatedly.  Every hit you get will send you falling a bit behind, so make sure youre at an angle that doesnt let you run into any spikes.  After a hit, itll jump up and slam the ground, causing many boulders to fall.  Jump before he hits the ground or youll be stunned for a short time.  Dodge the falling boulders and hit it again.  Repeat until he turns into a faerie.  Go left and hop across the tiles to the northern door.  Go up and defeat the gels.  A chest will appear, open it for the map and go right.  Hit and throw the enemies into their matching holes.  After they are all in their holes, youll get a small key.  Go back left and down.  Go left and hit the statues to turn them all blue.  A
red O or 8 means that that statue is the one you hit to hit to get to the next formation.  An 8 means its red, and an O means its blue.

*Use the Pegasus Boots to ram into the bookshelf in the Mabe Library.
*Read the Book (if you don't do this, you WILL NOT be able to enter the Color Dungeon).
*Head to the Graveyard and find the screen with five tombstones.
*Push the bottom right tombstone down; then push the bottom left one left; push the upper left one up; now push the upper middle tombstone right; finally push the upper right tombstone up and you'll see a staircase.  Enter the staircase.
*You are now inside the color dungeon.  Talk to the stalchildren blocking the door and they'll ask you what color their tunics are.  Tell them and they'll move.  Go through the door.
*This room is filled with floor demons.  When they see you they'll come out of the floor and attack.  That's when you let 'em have it!  Kill all three and the door to the next room will open.
*In this room, you'll be confronted with four colored statues.  Slash the upper left statue then hit the bottom right statue.  A chest containing the Compass!!!  Also, if you bomb the middle of the south wall, you'll discover a secret passage!  Walk in and you'll find a room filled with 140 rupees! They regenerate when you leave the dungeon, so you know what to do if you need more rupees.
*The next room has a flying skeleton and a bunch of colored squares.  When you step one these you bounce in the air but don't bounce on each more than three times, otherwise you'll fall into a pit!  There's a door with a key to the north but you can't enter that yet...  Head into the door on the right.
*In this room, there are two creatures that curl up into a ball when you hit them.  Pick 'em up with your Power Bracelet and throw them into the holes that match their colors.  They should explode and a chest containing the Stone Beak will appear!!!  Head into the north door.
*Bounce on the colored squares and walk into the next room.
*As you enter this room, you'll here the telltale chime that a key is in the room (if you got the Compass).  Slash the orange statue (bottom right), then the top left one twice.  The key will drop.  Grab it and head into the next room.
*More floor demons await here.  Just avoid or kill them and unlock the north door.  Head in.
*This room contains the first mini-boss.  The slime will stand up and walk around the room, spraying lightning bolts everywhere!  Use your Magic Powder to make him shrink then slash him.  Repeat until he falls (or is that squishes?) beneath your blade.  Head in the east door.
*This room is home to the Nightmare Key but to get it you must solve a block puzzle.  Push the bottom and top blocks to the left the ush the middle block up or down.  This will open a path to the key.  Get it and return to the room where the two 'throw the creatures in the color holes' were.  Head into the south door.
*Kill all the floor demons here but don't fall into the pit!  Once they're taken care of, the doors open.  Proceed to the west door and go through.
*Jump over the colored squares and kill the two jumping skeletons.  Grab the key in the chest and go through the north swivel door.
*You're back in the room where you saw the first set of colored squares.  Avoid the flying skeleton, unlock the north door and go through.
*Now, you're face-to-face with second mini-boss.  This one is harder than the first.  He'll jump up and down, making boulders come crushing down.  Block them with your shield or jump over them.  Once the avalanche is ended,
the golem moves around for about five seconds.  Power up your sword and slash him.  He'll repeat the avalanche and once he's done, you apply the beatdown!  The next room is opened so head through the west door.
*Here are more stupid skeletons and more frickin' colored squares.  Kill the skeletons and lift up the jar in the upper left corner to reveal a switch!  Press it and enter the north room.
*Slimes populate this room and if you kill them all you'll retrieve the Dungeon Map!  Hurrah.  Enter the east door.
*In this room, there are more of those creatures that curl into a ball when you hit them.  Throw them into their respective holes and you'll get a key!   Grab it and head back to the room with the squares, the skeletons, and the
switch.  Walk into the west door.
*Here you'll find nine statues.  Hit the right, then top, then left, and finally the bottom.  This opens the north door.  Enter, brave one.
*More Smiles are in this room.  Kill 'em and open the west door.
*This is the entrance to the Nightmare's chamber.  Hit the crystal ball and unlock the boss chamber.  Enter if you dare!  Muhahaha!!!
*If you just finished the Key Cavern, this could be a little harsh but if you have the Magic Rod it'll be a cinch!!!  Just slash at him until he dies.  The only problem is that everytime you hit him, you fly backwards!  So let him trap you in a corner.  Jump over his projectiles and continue to slash him until he blows up.  Enter the east door.
*This room contains the Fairy Queen.  Talk to her and she'll give you a choice of red or blue clothes.  Blue gives you higher defense (exact same as a Guardian Acorn but it never wears off!) and red gives you higher offense (same as Piece of Power!).  When you choose, she'll teleport you to the dungeon's entrance in the Graveyard

They will all be blue.  The doors will open, so go up.  Unlock the door and go left.  Hit the crystal switch and walk to the Nightmare Door.  Unlock it and defeat Turtalfos.  Hitting him with your sword will do a bit of damage, but it will also hit you back a bit.  I suggest jumping at it continuously.  Try to get it into a corner.  Repeatedly hit it with your sword to make it turn colors (from blue to yellow to red).
