I have used the following
programs to help with this website:
-
GIMP to create The
Battle High
Wood 1916 picture. I use a composite of a French Windmill, a modern
High Wood photograph, and added gas bomb explosions. It has certainly
had an effect on me to see it, along with the Wilfred Owen poem 'Dulce et Decorum Est'.
Such a tragedy needs to be remembered for all such men who died in
WWI.
They are truly heroes -

IrfanView as always for
perfect picture manipulation -

-
WinZip to zip this
website for uploading to Geocities -

Thank you to my
grand-daughter Charlotte for researching where Ida and Olive were residing
in 1911.
Also, thank you again
Charlotte and my cousin Shirley in Australia for asking about Robert Madeley. That gave me the idea to make this tribute to my grand-father.
If anyone wishes to
email me about the information on this website, or wishes to give me more
information, or even correct it, please do so by

Lastly, a special thanks for
