William Roderick and his wife Ann ran the Crown Inn next door to Madeley House when Robert was a boy.

In the background of this old picture of the Crown Inn are Madeley House buildings.

The Rodericks had two sons about Robert's age so they may well have been good friends, attending school together.

Neighbours to the Crown Inn would have been good customers of William Roderick.

The Crown Inn is now a private residence.

It is now known as Crown House, and this picture gives the opportunity to see the back.

Crown House does not have listed protection.
