//..alright, this goes in descending order: newer news up top, and then older more embarrassing news from when we thought we were hot shit at the bottom..//
6.19.01- hey. i feel like a guilty kid who should have come home alot sooner. i know, ive let everyone down. how could i? the final mitchell show takes place and not a word about it since. well its taken awhile to step back and figure out what happened. or at least thats my excuse. first off, big huge thank yous to everyone who came out and ESPECIALLY everyone who participated in the big singalong. it was the most flattering and rewarding and exciting moment ive ever experienced in a band. during brightest stars when brett johnston was playing i was totally just watching a band i used to be in. the tough guy award has to be given to mike russo for taking a vicious hit to the leg with an exercise bike tearing through his shorts and his skin. injured in the line of duty and for that we salute you. about the show for those who did not witness it first hand. it was just incredible. everyone gathered around us and encircled us which then turned into everyone just standing in between us. there was no separation between band and audience and that was a really great feeling. we printed up programs for everyone with the songs and the explanations as to why we picked those songs to play at our last show. there was even a section for your friends to sign their names and more fun. it was like being at the eighth grade dance and i think everyone enjoyed them. i know mike russo used his to stop the blood. so it may have even saved lives. we kicked it off with the very old stuff for the kids that have been there from the beginning. it was definitely weird playing those songs again and we had fun doing it. i just regret playing too many of them. not everyone knew these songs and we were wasting time for the sing along. after doing a bunch of typically retarded mitchell things including taking time out during a song to call chris from a payphone and riding an exercise bike, we skipped ahead and went right for what everyone was waiting for: my job. we played im never washing this hand again and i was so impressed by the way everyone took to singing along. it was great. there was like 8 kids crowded around the microphone screaming their brains out. it was so much fun. and from then on all control was lost. it was like we took that place over and it was just like the entire crowd was in mitchell. it was magnetic. ive never been part of anything like that. as the songs went on it was just everyone came together as one person and we blew the roof of the place everyone was going nuts people were grabbing sticks and playing the drums with mike and it all went straight up in the air and ended in an explosion like fireworks. and like those amber streaks that fall down after we ended with a special acoustic version of 'goodnight' it was great ask anyone. oh one more thing batman was not a part of our show. i dont know who that kid was and we dont support the fact that he through our bike around and broke it. chris gave him a big punch. its you only get positivity with mitchell ok? so now the question is, if that was your last show whats going to happen to mitchell. well since then everything has been said from "oh it wasnt really the last show we just did that for fun" to "yeah we broke up" none of us really know whats going on and were not helping by talking about it. this is the way i see it. as of right now we dont feel like doing the same thing weve been doing lately. so until when we have a reason to play again or just cant stand not doing it anymore were just taking it easy. its really nothing to make a big deal over. i just want to say were not broken up. we are doing different things now however. chris has joined up with bear country and mike may also be starting a new band. as for me im still writing songs that i do intend for mitchell. also i havent played my guitar in a while in favor of my new accordion which im finding to be great fun. ill try to keep updates and new exciting mitchell multimedia flowing so youll keep coming round here and keep the mitch inside yo brain. so just be sure not to forget about us or count us out because when mitchell finally does return, boy howdy, youre gonna know about it.
4.23.01- wow, the days really pile up. the trouble with this www email internet thing is that you never think people are on it and going to your website, which is probably true but just in case heres whats happened since last time: distant rise records and mitchell are back in it together bringing you another mitchell rock and roll record scheduled for summer release. it will feature 3-4 songs on our part (most of which are recorded already but never mentioned) and more tunes by jacksonville's youth on fire, texas's o'doyle rules, and san diego's nothing to lose. its going to be cool. like a summary of what we did in the past year. that seems how our records tend to go. we dont really release fresh stuff. we already moved on and progressed by the time our music comes out. i dont know if thats good or bad. but anyway speaking of leaps heres another: may 18th, mark you calendar because this is the date of mitchells LAST NORTH AMERICAN SHOW. keep in mind this does not mean we are breaking up. we are simply going to wrap everything up from the day mitchell started and just removed ourselves from the scene for a little while. hopefully well come back fresh and not get stuck in the same old crap again. its weird to think, 'im never washing this hand again' was written almost a year ago and people think its our new song. it was a big leap from what we had been doing at the time and i think we are ready to step back and go at another. in this absence we will be hopefully creating something new and exciting at least for us. i dont mean we are going to reinvent music or anything or be some breakthrough just try different things whatever. so about the last show. its going to be very exciting. like a going away party for the old mitchell. were going to play a huge set of all our old old OLD songs dating back to the very first mitchell song when we werent even mitchell. i was a little nervous about bringing back such terrible talentless middle school crap but playing them today brought back a fun kind of nostalgia i think everyone will appreciate and cash in on. there will be official programs and were working on some very fun staging setup ideas that will be very audience inclusive. i orginally had it explained but i think maybe you should wait and see. theres going to be a bunch of surprises and im such a bitch at ruining them because i want to tell people everything. its going to be a whole lot of fun and the cd will come out and that will be it. another chapter will have been marked. pack it up send it off. hopefully the next shipment will be even better, so until then......see you on the 18th.
