LEWIS SOLOMONS  (SIMEON1) was born about 1806 in London, England and died on the 25th March 1879, Age 73 years in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (Regno 2285). Burial: Melbourne General Cemetery, Jewish Comp. B#393.
Probate: 24th April 1878 (No.#18 880). Residence at time of death 178 Russell Street, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. 
He married
CHARLOTTE SAMUEL on the 16th February 1842 at 95 Ratcliffe Highway, St George in the East (Middlesex). The marriage was registered at the New Synagogue, London, England. Lewis' occupation at the time was stated as 'Choirmaster'. Lewis resided at what appears to be 27 Grove Street (The name of the street is difficult to read). The marriage took place at the home of Charlotte's parents Mendel Samuel and Amelia Emanuel. Charlotte Samuel was born about 1821 in Middlesex, London, England, and died on the 27th March 1870 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (Regno 2098).

Emigration: 25 July 1857, Arrival in Port Phillip on the vessell, "Essex". At the time of their arrivel in Port Phillip, Lewis Solomons occupation was 'Cabinet Maker'.
Lewis appears to have established himself as a dealer, most likely of furniture.
Lewis owned both 178 & 180 Russell Street, Melbourne both of which seem to have been transfered to Mendel & Hannah Cohen nee Solomon after their marriage.
Charlotte Samuel:
Charlotte Samuel was born in 1821 in Middlesex England died on the 27th March 1870. She was aged 51 years at her death and was buried on the 28th March 1870 at the MGC Carlton.
Her place of death was given as Russell Street, presumably 178. The cause of death was given as syncope, ( A simple feint or temporary loss of consciousness due to cerebral ischaemia, often caused by dilation of the peripheral blood vessels and a sudden fall in blood pressure) which she had for two weeks. She was buried at the MGC Jewish Section Compartment E plot #59a, the undertaker being John Daly.

JOSEPH SOLOMONS, Born in 1845 in St George in the East outside London, England and died in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia in 1894 (Regno 6805).

HANNAH SOLOMONS, Born on the 25th July 1846 in St George East, London, England and died on the 4th September 1922 at 82 Queens Rd, St Kilda, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. She married Mendel (Menachem) Cohen on the 9th September 1863 at the East Melbourne Hebrew Congregation, Victoria, Australia (Regno 3102).

ALBERT (MISH) SOLOMONS, Born about 1850 in London, England and died on the 6th October 1905 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (Regno 13695).

FRANCES (FANNY) SOLOMONS, Born about 1852 in London, England and died on the 30th June 1904 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (Regno 6712). She married Samuel Lobascher on the 16th August 1882 at Lygon Street, Carlton, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (Regno 4549).

EMANUEL SOLOMONS, Born in the June quarter of 1858 in London,
(St. George in the East.) England and died on the 15th December 1913 in Dunedin, New Zealand. He married Evalina Marks on the 18th December 1872 at 261 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
(Regno 4708).
