Skating
Rink News
The
outdoor ice-skating rink is looking for some hearty volunteers
to help with the maintenance of the rink this coming winter:
such jobs as flooding, snow removal and ensuring proper lighting.
Also the Lynwood Village Community Association has 2-3 paid
positions available with regard to the daily operation of
the rink. Duties include opening and closing the rink and
change room, supervising skaters and ensuring that all persons
use the ice rink in safely. First-aid is a must and L.V.C.A.
will cover the cost of training.
If
you are interested in volunteering and/or a paid position,
please contact Brian Hickman at 828-5653 between 7-10 PM.
Please
read the latest message from
the President of LVCA regarding the critical situation
affecting this service.

Fall
Fair - Sunday October 14th - 2 PM to 4 PM
Our
4th annual Fall Fair took place on Sunday October 14th, 2-4PM.
Lynwood Park was the site for Egg & Spoon races, Sack
races, Three legged races and much more.
This
year's Fall Fair was a total success in many aspects. We had
great participation and fun. The weather was so nice that
we decided to provide pop drinks rather than hot chocolate.
The baked goods were great and greatly helped collect a record
amount of money towards the Skating Arena expenses for this
year.
Many
thanks to all the volunteers that helped making this event
a success.

Service
Dog Information & Awareness Demo Outcome
This
event was organized by
Canines with a Cause, a new non-profit organization that
started on January 2001 here in Ottawa (Bells Corners) on
Saturday June 16, 2001.
NOTE
FROM THE FOUNDER OF CANINES WITH A CAUSE:
Althought the number of people attending the event was not
excessive, those who attended showed great interest in learning
the benefits of Service Dogs.
We
are pleased to tell you that since that event, the number
of members of the Board of Directors has
increased to 5 now.

Our
sincere Thank you goes to:
- Lisa
Grey, and Java from the Kiwi Society who did an excellent
presentation, and her husband Kevin for taking care of photographs
- Larry
and Lola Ryan for not only organizing the Bells Corners
United Church Youth group but also offered the use of their
video camera and tripod
-
The energetic and very efficient group of young people who
worked very hard setting up the room and cleaning it up
afterwards
- Joanne
Moss for giving us the idea of inviting the Youth group
to get involved in the clean up which save the organization
$50 professional cleaning fee for the hall.
- The
media including The Citizen, Majic 1000, CHRI, New RO, and
Rogers for freely announcing this community event
- And
to all of you who provided us with contributions to cover
the cost of the minimal rental hall fee
