Message
from the President - October 2002
I would like to introduce you to Joan Conway, Tina Keohane
and Karen MacKechnie who have agreed to organize a wonderful
Fall Fair for our community. These
activities really demonstrate to our children community spirit
and cooperation. We are still looking for other people to
join our Executive. Specifically
the position of Sports Director and Vice President are vacant.
If you enjoyed the soccer and T-ball programs we coordinate
in the spring, perhaps you would like to join our team. We
are presently investigating the possibility of having workshops
on hockey and figure skating at our outdoor rink this winter.
This would be a great opportunity to let your kids have lessons
right in the community. If you have suggestions, special skills
&/or would like to join us, please call Alice
at 829-6127.
The
City of Ottawa hs recently given us more funding to run the
rink. Along with this funding comes added responsibility for
snow removal. We will be looking for a Snow Removal Contractor
to remove snow on Lynwood rink. We are interested in making
our rink a great centre for skating but we need your help.
Ice maintenance and flooding are huge tasks. We are thankful
to have our Director Brian Hickman back in charge of the ice.
Last year he battled extreme weather conditions to create
and maintain an ice surface. The more volunteers we have the
quicker we can get the ice surface up and available for your
kids. The city has agreed to resurface our rink over the course
of the next 3 years so our ice should be even better. Please
contact Alice
if you are interested in helping with the ice at 829-6127
This
Fall has brought an increase in vandalism to our neighborhood.
Please read about free home security inspections and keep
an eye on your neighborhood.
