Peaked Mountain
Green Hills Preserve, North Conway, NH
23 Jun 02
Preparatory hike suggested by merit badge requirements as part of conditioning program prior to beginning 10 mile hikes.  Peaked Mountain offers some very nice views of the Mt Washington Valley for a short hike to the summit (4.2 miles round trip).  The weather was rainy and humid for most of the day and the bugs targeting anything breathing.  We added a short 1.2 mile side trip to Diana's Bath when the sun did come out in the late afternoon for some refreshing (but cool) bathing.
Total Trip Mileage:  5.4 Miles
Trailhead to Peaked and Middle Mountain - Green Hills Preserve in North Conway, NH
Bug attack.  While the rain stopped, the weather was humid and misty.  The mosquitos were bad but the gnats the worst.   "Swarming".  One  had to decide to wear a jacket for protection and sweat heavily or be cooler but have them bite into your skin.  And they like to attach any open "Oriface" - eyes, nose, ears...a fun time
The gnats cleared!  As we climbed, the bug population decreased
Peaked Mountain Summit.  One of the best short hikes in the area... as you can see from the fantastic view of the Mt Washington Valley and Presidential Range.  But the summit had a nice breeze which provided a bug free environment
