CAREGIVER TRAINING:
A caregiver is defined as any person(s) who provide supervision to children.  This includes biological parents, foster parents, facility staff and teachers.

In many cases, the best approach to changing behavior is to train the caregivers to interact with the individual in ways that promote desirable behavior and reduce the occurrence of troubling or risky behavior.  Often, specific interventions include simple teaching techniques to assist with learning.

Once the assessment and the Behavior Intervention Plan has been completed, the behavior analyst will review with the caregiver the findings of the behavior assessment as well as the components of the Behavior Intervention Plan.

In other instances, it is necessary to do a thorough and intensive assessment of the environment to determine if it is leading to behavior problems. In this case, a formal treatment plan is developed to address these problems.
