BEHAVIOR ASSESSMENT:
Assessment occurs from beginning to end.  During the baseline phase, we identify a behavior to be targeted for change.  Once the target behavior is identified, direct observation of the target behavior is conducted in order to determine a hypothesis regarding the function of the target behavior.  Based on these findings, the Behavior Intervention Plan is developed.

The Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) is a written document, which defines the behavior targeted for change as well as identifies the interventions recommended to address the target behavior.  Moreover, it summarizes the findings of the baseline phase assessment & graphically displays the baseline measurements of the target behavior.

During the treatment phase, the BIP recommendations are implemented.  At the same time, assessment of the target behavior continues.  These measurements are used to determine whether the BIP recommendations are effective.
