| LW was started in 1998 in Austin Texas by a group of parents. It is now a nonprofit corporation. LW currently recieves small donations from individuals along with low tuition to cover some of the costs of providing the classes. The Living Well College program and curriculum has been developed to educate and empower people to make a positive impact on the community. All LW College for Living activities are designed to facilitate meaningful, productuve, and beneficial community participation for people with developmental disabilities. Living Well College is divided into three schools: * Personal Growth * Community Initiatives * Business Initiatives The schools will offer a wide range of classes and programs. Personal Growth courses will include Physical Excellence, Academics, and Interpersonal Relationships. The cornerstone of the Community Initiatives program is LW Volunteers. Volunteerism is an essential element of the LW experience and the LW Volunteers will make important contributions to organization such as nursing and retirement homes, non-profit organizations and state parks. The School of Business Initiatives will offer business and management opportunities with a variety of entrepreneurial projects. |
