Yes, that's the simple truth of the matter. While you can make it as a melee paladin with just about any weapon. You ain't going far if you don't have a GOOD weapon.... and you can forget about making it to lvl 80 without a VERY GOOD WEAPON!

Of all the items I have, this weapon is the only thing I traded for. I had to give up A LOT to get it but in the end it was worth it. What did I give up you ask? Well, it almost pains me to say... in fact, it does pain me to say it. But... I'll just give you a few of the several items that I gave up for this weapon --

• Dual Leech Gothic Sword: 48-97 dmg, 5% life steal, 10% mana steal,
  cold resist 19%, lightning resist 29%, +104 attack rating, +9 max damage
• TWO Eye of Etlich
• Rare Lance: 69-200 dmg, +1 barb skills, +51 attack rating

And a couple of other things that slipped my mind (thankfully). While I may whine about what I had to give up, the weapon was more than worth the price. And it brought me to a new conclusion on a mod that everyone seems to hate --- Flee. Flee is a great mod!

I LOVE this weapon and the day that I find something better is gonna be a tough day. V.fast attack, mana steal, flee, +AR... all the things a melee paladin hopes for. Of course there are other mods that one would want but this weapon has served me just fine, thank you.

My favorite thing to do while playing D2 is treasure hunt. And nothing gives me more of a jolt than when a rare piece of jewelry drops! I'm much like a pimp in my glee for jewelry ::smile::. When it's good.. it can be a truly great find! I have many, MANY pieces of jewelry.. even the not-so-good rares are difficult for me to sell. In fact I have a mule that has nothing but rings and amulets.

But lets take a look at the primary and secondary jewelry now..

The Eye! Of course this would be a great ammy for a melee Paladin! I have +2 skills ammys in my stash and won't use them because I hate to lose the mods on this Eye. Life steal, +29 missle defense and cold damage mean more to me than the +1 skills. This ammy is made for a melee char.

I found this ring a few months ago. I didn't wear it for the longest time because I had another that had mods that I really liked (resists etc) and was necessary for leveling. Since I've reached lvl 80, I've now been more determined to treasure hunt and have temporarily abandoned my quests for more levels. Since this is now my goal, I've been wearing this ring constantly.

This is a ring that I've worn for months. It's mods have helped me plenty of times. Notice that with these two rings alone I have added +5 to minimum damage which adds about 60 hp to my minimum attack.

When I was actively trying to level this was the ring that I wore (combined with the 'Bitter Band' ring listed above). The high resists and the damage reduction, poison length reduction and +111 to attack rating made this ring invaluable when soloing in large multiplayer act 4 Hell mode games.

Another favorite ring of mine which I've had for a loooonng time. This was the first really good rare ring I found on realms and I pull it out whenever I need to.
