There are so many beautiful things I feel the need to talk about that it is hard to find
an apropriate beginning. But as for me my friends are always the most important part in my world
I couldn't imagine anything else then starting with them. Looking through this page i have now written 6 years ago - i come to realise how important it was to do so. Many things would have faded out of memory - others become more defined - some friends disappeard - others i only get told about from those that I still am in touch with. And those are exactly the ones who have become even more important in my life - so Thnak you for staying in touch and remaining or becomming dear friends: Mint, May, Masami, Hui and last but not least Kallayanee.
Please don't feel offended by any order I am listing you up below, it's not a list of who's beeing most important to
me, it's only that someone has to make a start...
Uan
Still it is only fair that Uan makes the start here - since she also held the "poleposition" in so many aspects of my life...
I met her, as our PR Manager on my very first day in the hotel - didn't pay much attention to her that time though
Bad mistake! Soon though I found out that SHE is one of the most funniest, kindest and sometimes oddest person I know
on this planet - her statements could fill books, she loves the night time sky, and watching the ocean at night, rock climbing and
Bruce Lee moves, botteled water, coffee, even farang food and all sorts of kanoms especially pop corn. She has always been there for me during my time there and has grown to my heart more than anyone else there, yet even more then most people in this world ever will or have!
Most probably I could tell you more about her than she would allow me to publish - that's for sure - but never the less I can surely say that she has changed my life forever...
And I will deeply miss her for the rest of my life whenever we are apart! That is a fact - even though you might think i have failed you...! Which makes me very sad btw.!
This is me and Uan at Megans place in Bangkok
Thanks for letting me stay there by the way!
Ha
Ha is one of my colleagues - same department I mean. Without her I wouldn't have survived even the first night. When I arrived there
nobody knew I was comming so nothing was prepared and I had spend my last money on the taxi. Ha took care of all my needs as if it went without saying and kept that up throughout my stay. She can be a bit stubborn and difficult to handle sometimes in being a bit motherly with us, but beneath that rough shell
is a very soft and gental core. What describes Ha the best? There are so many great things about her that I can only summerize and say that she is a
fantastic person and that I am happy to know her!
November something - Festival of Loy Katorng - Uan on the left side, me, Douglas and Ha!
Sorn
She is one of my ex-colleagues too - unfortunately she quit befor I even left, leaving me behind missing her very much!
I always used to play Squash with her - actually we both started together - boy were we bad - but we had so much fun in being horrible that we just kept
it up and even improved. I am not telling you now that the last time I played with her I almost knocked myself out with the squash racket - receiving a beautiful
black eye from this close encounter...to the amusement of most our guests and all of my colleagues- especially Uan!
With Sorn I still have to take a trip to Krabi - something we planed for so long! Someday I will!
Masami, Noriko, Eiko
Those were my japanese guest relation officers. Each of them very different - all of course very japanese and therefor a bit shy...with Masami maybe being the most extrovert from the 3 of them. Always good for a friendly word, or a good beachparty.
Eiko even surprised me the other day by a wonderful statement about this homepage - so good to have a reader who appriciates all the work I put in here and understands my feelings for the Bahamas. I miss all three of you guys soooo much - I can't here anything about cartoons anymore without thinking about Masami....! I hope to see you girls again soon - we'll stay in touch- promisse!
My friend Masami
Nui - my friend
Nui is one of the people I know the longest in the hotel -even from a time I didn't even work there. She might appear a bit stiff and serious at the first glance, but boy! let me tell you that girl has a sence of humour! That knocks you out - I am totally addicted to her - now I am suffering!
What else can I tell you about Haruetai - her full name which means "Thai heart"...? She has increadibly beautiful hands - with increadibly long fingernails - real killers! When we had jellyfish injuries she needed to stick her nail in it and the patient would definetly not fell any pain from the sting anymore ..haha
She has good connections to the kitchen which is especially nice when you don't get any normal breakfast in the morning - Nui would always organize some fruits for us. She owns gold fish, lives next door to Ha, loves to chase the guests arround for any kind of aerobic and is definetly the queen of the waterpark....
(We used to share this title but now she is unreachable....)
This is Miss K - Nui my friend and Max in the back - i miss the two so much!
Chris and OH
These two are my favourit in our tennis section. Chris especially because he too is Austrian which of course leads to a certain klinging of countrymen..
Also of course because he simply is a nice guy who loves dogs and raised all the beachdog puppies in the whole neighbourhood.
OH on the other hand is a real pain in the ass - I don't know why I miss him - maybe because he is funny , totally silly and absolutely out of his mind! He moved into the empty connection room next to mine which left me waking up in the middle of the night with him walking in asking for hairgel or something like that.
His singing could be improved - but he does so with such devotion that noone has the heart to stop his hauling.
He's a great dancer- really sexy- as he proved to us on the New Years beach party and is simply a sweet guy IF he decides to
The Fantasea Divers Crew
With them I spend most of my rare speartime on the island! Bianca, Dani and his girlfriend Ivone, and Max. They not only took me out diving to Kho Wea, had dinner withme alltogether at the beach, complained about the management, partied at the beach or held a afternoon sleep on a longchair infront of the shop underneath a palmtree, no
we shared all of those little happy moments together that you don't pay much attention to as they happen but make your memories so much more colourfull...jumping with a bunch
of kiddies on the trampoline, defying the jellyfish whilst trying to recover my sunglasses - Should I ever meet Dani again he'll get the promissed Brownie - with ants! That's been a blast! Antexplosion! Boooom! Playing freezbee in the hot afternoonsand, or any of them saving my life after a 2 hour beachvolleyball game with the guests and the guys from the marine center by preventing a total dehydration. WATER!!! PLEASE!!!
Ok, here they are - Bianca, Ivone, Dani, Uan, Mint and me at the restaurant at Bangtao Beach
Mint
She has also been a very good friend to me! Was part of that gang consisting of Bianca,Dani, Ivone, Uan and myself. A lovely person who is one of my neighbours at least
in a continental sence now. She got to married and moved to Switzerland where I see her regularly on my trips to Zurich.
May
2000: Not so much I can tell you about May exept that I really like her but unfortunately didn't spend enough time at the beach to recognize her sooner. We met if I recall it right playing beachvolleyball. (2006: Since May has the same memory i guess I DO recall it correctly! :-))
We were thanks God smart enough to exchange addresses befor I left. Last time I saw her...I remember it well, she left with her friend on a motorcycle from her store at the beach. I was even given a farewell present from her. Such a nice and unexpected gesture. I cheerish her in my heart - I found a true friend in her - always hoping so much to see her again soon!
I miss her very much - like all the others - without even knowing her long!
2006: In the meantime we have become good friends and are in regular chat/email contact - the picture was taken this May at Bangkok shortly before headding back to the airport.
Wilai
Wilai has been a part of my life for much longer than I knew - I met her in 98 on my first trip to Thailand- and saw her again in a totally different part of Phuket a year later. The astonishing part was that both of us remembered eachother...since then we became friends, telling eachother everything possible with a language barrier and different departments inbetween. Luckily for me I was able to spend
some time with her once in a while during our breackfast shifts - or at night infront of the Similan Grill. She is an incredible person - one of the kind you wont find again easily, even if you look for years all
over the planet. She carries a heavey burden with her, has a hard life - and still remains happy and gracefull. She's a strong and amazing woman - one of the kind you can only stare at and wonder, be happy to know and highly respect. I would call Wilai a very dear and special friend of mine - and I pray that life will reward her for all the hard times she had to survive and does so without loosing her faith or smile.
SEA Colleagues of mine
S.E.A. was my department - a large one too so it might not be possible to add each person. Some outstanding ones I can't forget to mention are Glenda, our Kids Club Manager from South Africa, Nop and Am handling the Gameroom,
my boss Utte, and his assistant Sam, Oil, Ooh and Oui from the Kids Club, Chang, Tat, Douglas and Marine center staff...
Some stranger than others, but all of them very nice in their own way.
This was our choir- we started practecing Christmas songs in October - can you imagine how we felt on the 24th of December when this pic was taken?
Something like " thanks God it's over" ! On it you have almost all of my good friends...from all departments of LBR
This is K.Sopa, me and Sam at december 5th - Kings Birthday
