Archived Updates:

12.29.03 - Probably the last update for the year. Lots of changes. I haven't heard from John or Don in months, so until they show up alive I'll consider them on the inactive list. I know both of them are working hard and haven't had any time to deal with cars. So they'll always be thought of as part of JYRacing until they decide not to be.

We do have a new addition though. Street terror Zach and his "Green Bean" Galant VR4 now grace us with their presence. Zach has been around the scene for years with his old black Galant, terrorizing LS1s and V8s at the street races for as long as I can remember. He switched cars and decided to put a JY sticker on it. So I'll consider that a good thing.

The scariest news of the year has been Tim's wreak in his RX-7. Amazingly he came away unhurt, and without frame damage. So the car is not only fixable, it's being upgraded. Sooner than later it will be a single turbo monster tearing up the drag strip. Also Brian has had car troubles lately, watching his rings go south on him after putting down 330whp at the Forced Performance dyno. He's going to re-ring the block though, and come back for more.

Both Kyle and I are looking to sell our cars. My car is an ultra-rare Toyota Celica Alltrac ST165 (GT-4 everywhere else). It is an AWD turbo car specifically designed for rally by Toyota. Lots of upgrades, check out my car page in the Members area for full details. Asking price for the car is $2500, but that is not completely firm. Car is gray/silver and is in need of some minor TLC. Paint is in excellent condition considering the cars age. If you're interested e-mail me please!

11.09.03 - Wow, an update! Dead God yes. A lot has happened recently so lets get straight to it.

All my DSMs are sold. I've sold both the Talon and Eclipse because of nagging problems I didn't feel like dealing with anymore. I have replaced both cars with the ultra-rare Toyota Celica Alltrac (ST165). As always I have plans for the car, but right now I'm just fixing the basics. The car needs some TLC.

The 14 Second Wonder is no more! Brian finally broke into the 13s with his FWD Laser. He did it the way he wanted too. Street tires, stock sidemount, hot day. 13.7@106mph. So his curse is over and the car is upgraded. You'll now see him touting around an ADFX front mount intercooler setup.

Tim finally got his RX-7 running correctly again. He hasn't taken it to the track, but that's his next stop along with me. The rest of the group has been pretty quiet. Don and John have been working in the real world more, and Kyle's car has just been sitting. Kyle might go to the track with us this coming weekend, so hopefully JYRacing will have 4 cars show up in the same spot. Holy crap! Anyway, member pages are updated. Go check them out. See you at the track.

8.14.03 - Several good things have happened lately. Seems like we're on a streak. JYR has purchased a new car, a '90 Eclipse GSX. It's in impressive condition considering the age. Included on the car was a factory CD player, EPROM ECU, 4 good axles, new clutch, fresh timing belt, along with a broken valve. The head is being replaced and the details of our new race car can be found on its page.

We now have Tim's RX-7 broken in. He's about to give it back to the nice folks at Gotham Racing to get the final tune and turn the boost up over the stock 8psi. So his car should get really interesting real quick. Both Tim and I plan to debut the RX-7 and the Eclipse at Ennis on Friday, August 22nd. We'll definately have video available.

8.1.03 - New month calls for a new update. Lots of news. First I'd like to welcome our newest member, Don and his red '90 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD. Don is an all-around nice guy with some good sized plans for his car. So far he's got a decent list of goodies, so be sure to check out his page.

The JYR Race Car has now been officially announced. Yes, that's right. We are building a full blown race car just for the hell of it, using my '90 AWD Talon. In its first pass, the car will be sporting a new FMIC, RAMChargers MAFT, and a rebuilt 16G aiming for low 12s. While we're building and tuning the chassis, a fully forged race motor will be assembled. Look for the JYR Talon to make a return to the track very soon. Work has already begun.

Tim's car is complete! Yes, you heard me. Tim finally finished putting his RX-7 together. In the next few days it will be back out on the road and cruising. Armed with a street port, full stand-alone engine management, and some extra boost he'll be a sight to behold.

Kyle's '90 FWD Talon is once again moving. This weekend we are installing an Apex'i AFC-II, Walbro fuel pump, and Dejon Tool upper intercooler piping to it. So he's finally moving in the right direction.

John's car is starting to come together. Also planned for this weekend is a clutch swap. Out comes the slipping stocker and in goes an ACT 2100. We will be looking to tune John's car and make a return to the track very soon.

Brian's car is in semi-limbo at the moment. He's looking to get his FMIC installed, along with fixing a few minor problems. Brian ventured out to a dyno and layed down a very impressive 285fwhp. Can't wait to see what the car does with that front mount intercooler.

7.16.03 - Time for another update. Brian, Kyle, Tim, and myself ventured to Cafe RPM tonight and hung out with DFW DSM members. Had an interesting time with a decent turn out. We got some video of Kyle's car on the highway finally, it's posted up in the Media section. Also in the Media section is a 30 second walk past all the DSMs that showed up at the Cafe RPM meet minus 2.

It looks like we'll be attending Ennis for some 1/4 mile action this Friday the 18th. Come and join us as Brian continues his quest for 13s. With any luck the other running DSM in the group, John, will join us for the same task after his 8.83@78mph showing last week at Denton last week.

Lastly, as I'm sure you already noticed, Kyle's car is finally running again. That leaves Tim and myself as the only 2 non-running cars in the group. It's now a race to see who can get a rebuild done faster. With any luck my new motor will be back together and installed in the car before the end of July.

Special Update - The JYRacing Movie Edition 1 is up. It's a compilation of different videos of our members (along with 2 or 3 DFW DSM members) to make a 2 and a half minute movie set to the Incubus song New Skin. It's 15MB and in the Media section, check it out.

7.12.03 - John, Tim, and myself went out to Denton Raceway last night. We will definitely be attending there a lot more. The place is NICE, and lots of fast cars. Including several guys from dfwstangs.net, racingfreaks.net, and dfwdsm.org. JYR repped John's recently demodded Talon. John allowed me to make a couple passes in it since he had shorts on. The first we have on video, was a 8.85@78mph. The second turned up a 8.83@78mph just barely inching out a new Neon SRT-4, which cranked out its fastest time of the night at 9.0. It was an awesome night and I definitely plan to do it again.

DFW DSM showed some spunk finally, bringing out Dan's 560hp Eclipse and Chris Douglas' as well. Dan turned in the fastest DSM time of the night, clicking off a 7.5@96mph and stomped a ZO6 Vette. The run we have on video in the Media section, he runs a 7.82@91mph.

6.29.03 - Wow, been over a month since I last updated this stupid thing. Lots of stuff happening lately. Updated Brian's mod list and added his dyno sheets. He's also earned the nickname "14 Second Wonder". The JYR Talon is in the process of a rebuild. Hopefully within the next month it will have a refreshed block in hopes of cranking out some 11 and 12 second 1/4 miles. Tim's car is on the verge of getting done. He's been slowly picking at it to make sure he doesn't miss anything. It's really only lacking the radiator and other small parts. He's hoping for 12s on street tires. Lets see how he does. Kyle's car and Kyle himself are still in la-la land. He's going to upgrade his intercooler piping and a few others parts. Hopefully get his car running right. John appears to be putting his car back to stock for reliability reasons since he's about to start back in school. Good luck with that John, you'll still be a member as long as you want to be. So check out the few new updates and look for us at the track.

As for track updates. Brian went to both Kennadale and Ennis this past week. Kennadale's results netted a 9.657@80mph. And Ennis turned up a best of 14.453@102mph. Look for the videos soon since we have them on digital cameras. Also to top the day off, Chris Carmack of DFW DSM turned in a personal best, running an 11.9@116mph! A really amazing run. Congrats Chris.

Also I added a new member. Our resident DSMChick Amber (aka my girlfriend). She doesn't even have a car, but deserves a spot on the member list since she puts up with me. Check out her member page.

5.26.03 - Low and behold bad luck follows the Talon around. For some reason I have worse compression after the swap back to the 14B, but the car smokes way less. Granted, it still smokes under probably mid-throttle acceleration, but at idle and steady cruising it's clean. Plugs show no sign of oil. Oh well, I'll get it figured out. On the bright side, Kyle's car finally starts on its own! And Tim's RX-7 should be up by the end of the month. We should also have some pictures up now that the digital camera is charged. Still working on getting Brian's 14.1@105mph in the Media section.

5.23.03 - Brian and myself went to Ennis in his Laser. He got in 4 runs before calling it quits for the day. His best time was 14.1@105mph. Knocking on the door of 13s in a FWD with true street tires. I have video if it that I will post in the Media section later.

5.22.03 - It runs! The original junkyard racing Talon finally got started and doesn't smoke like a freight train. I'm back to running the 14B though, so that's a problem. The turbo turned out to have blown seals, and was the reason I was smoking so bad. But hey, there are worse things in life. We also got Kyle's car running, so this leaves only Tim as the lone downed car.
