"Have you ever been to London where it really swings and the lovin' mod are found?
Well there's a little story that you won't believe about Lucy in London Town ........"

Following the success of I Love Lucy,  Lucille Ball went on to make The Lucy Desi Comedy Hour, The Lucy Show, Here's Lucy and Life With Lucy.

During the run of The Lucy Show, Desilu made a Special called "A Lucille Ball Special - Lucy In London."  This was based on and linked with an episode of The Lucy Show called "Lucy Goes To London," which aired on 17 October, 1966.
In this episode of The Lucy Show, Lucy Carmichael discovers that she has won first prize in a dog food competition by writing the jingle:

"I feed my doggie Arf Arf,
I buy it by the bunch,
I know it's tasty dog food,
I eat it myself for lunch."

Her prize is a day of sightseeing in London, England (Europe), flying on Flight 19 with British Imperial Airways

                                                  "
From the moment you step up to the
counter you feel a bit of Britain.
"

After overcoming the first hurdle of convincing her boss, Mr Mooney, played by
Gale Gordon, to give her the time off, she heads to the airport. On arrival, she puts her bag down and searches for her ticket. Having found it she discovers that her bag had been placed on the conveyor belt and carried away. She rushes over to airline counter and tries to explain what happened to an employee, who replies:

                                              "
The way I understand it, you've gone and
                                                       lost your blooming do-dah, Lady!
"

Lucy is advised that she must collect the bag from the basement, she panics as she does not have time to go to the basement because her flight is about to leave.  The airline official the suggests that she get a flight to New York where she can rejoin the London-bound plane. Upon hearing this, she dives onto the conveyor belt and disappears off to find her bag.

Aboard the flight to New York,  she settles into her seat and begins to look around. After a few seconds, she turns to the person sitting next to her and is shocked to find Mr Mooney sitting there, who explains that he has been sent to New York on business.

As the flight continues, they experience some turbulence.  This worries Lucy and she begins drinking the champagne that the stewardess is handing out. The turbulance continues as the champagne begins to take effect. Upon hearing that they are probably just flying into a storm, Lucy sneaks under her blanket and puts on her lifejacket which accidentally inflates, naturally! When her fellow passengers realise what she's doing, they begin to panic and question her actions. She states that the plane was pitching, at which point a dozing Mr Mooney leaps to his feet and shouts, "
The plane is ditching?" causing major panic. The captain has to come out and reassure everybody that everything is fine.
As the episode ends, the flight continues on its journey.
