| This year Anacapa Middle School will be offering a specialized class for seventh grade students who have an interest in technology. Each class will cover all of the California Standards for seventh grade, but add a focus on the use of technology. These students will have all of their classes throughout the day together. The teachers of this "tech track" will be collaborating together to create a technologically enhanced learning environment. We are all very excited about this new type of learning. Please look over and explore some of the types of activities the students will be engaged in throughout the year. The teachers will be: Mrs. Steinlicht: Math Ms. Coggins: P.E. | Internet workshop is an activity that promotes research of Internet sites. Students find sites, gather information, and then share new discoveries, questions, and literacy strategies with their classmates in some form of an oral presentation. This type of activity can be done in small groups or individually. Our first Internet Workshop will be on finding, reviewing, and critiquing sites for the current event due in science monthly. See one of the sites below: National Biological Information |
| A webquest is an online lesson or unit that has students go on a "quest" to find the answer to a question by using pre-defined Internet resources to complete a specified task. These tasks are related to real-life situations and ask students to collaboratively try to solve a problem. A webquest can be a type of scavenger hunt for students on a specific topic. We will be studying some controversial issues in science this year, such as stem cell research, steriods, and cloning. For a better idea of types of Webquests visit: Web Quest Link: Bernie Dodge |
| Internet projects help students explore the world around them. These projects allow students from one country to communicate with students in other parts of the world. It helps students develop a respect for other cultures and value the diversity of the world outside of our classrooms, our cities, state, and country. Some samples of the types of Internet Projects available are linked below. Internet Projects E-Pals |

| Internet Inquiry is a tool to help students develop independent research skills, important critical literacy strategies, and pursue questions that hold a special interest for them. This type of activity can be done individually or in small groups. We will be using Internet Inquiry when we begin to study the human body and how it works. We will be studying the various systems of the body. Check out: Human Anatomy Online |
