My mission is to help my students to feel safe in my classroom--safe to ask questions, safe to be themselves, safe from ridicule and safe to be able to talk to me about anything. Each day I will treat them with respect and require that they do the same. Even though some of my students may have difficulties learning or have outside issues, my expectations that they can learn will not change. My mission is to instill a love for life and the scientific process of learning for each student. Humor and enthusiasm will be a daily occurrence in my classroom. I have learned that sometimes we don't get second chances so we need to make the best of every day. There is a song that puts my hopes and my dreams for all my students in a nutshell: "I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.... I hope you DANCE" |
