The South African Journal of Linguistics was published to volume 17, issue 4 in November 1999. In moving the journal to a new publisher it was decided to amalgamate the journal with that of a sister society of the LSSA. In so doing, the Southern African Linguistics and Applied Language Studies journal was established.
