March 1, 2004 My husband's company changed the insurance company they used. They didn't work with BTC so I found another place that was in network to go to. It worked out well, it is closer and I think I'll feel safer being close incase something happened. The place I found has a lot of positive reviews.
March 13, 2004 On Saturday I went to a Free Seminar at MMPC in Grand Rapids, Michigan . My husband went with me. After the seminar I set up the intital three visits, Behavorist, Intern and Surgeon.
April 13, 2004 Behavorist ... Scott Glass
Didn't start off well, My husband went with me to the office and Mr. Glass invited him into the appointment. This made it hard for me to be as open as I needed to be with Mr. Glass. At the begining of the appointment I filled out a short questionair. I told him as I was filling this out that I had just had a rough couple of weeks so this was reflective of me in general. From that questionair and the fact that I couldn't talk openly, because of someone else being in the room, he came to the conclusion that I was depressed and needed counseoling. We didn't really touch on why I answered those questions the way I did. I was so busy making sure I didn't say anything that would make my husband feel bad or cause an arguement when we left, I didn't express myself very well. Mr. Glass said he would recomend I was not a good canadate for surgery at this time and that I should seek a therapist to address the issues. He also wanted me to have a psyc eval, I had just had one done July 21, 2003 I gave him a copy of her report and signed a release for Mr. Glass to talk with her. I'm wondered if I should call Mr. Glass and tell him that I felt unable to talk freely with my husband in the room with us.
April 13, 2004 Internist ... Dr. White
I had an EEG done, she listened to my stomach, heart and lungs. Checked my legs water retention. Took some back ground information, she also gave me papers to get blood work done, I have to be fasting so I'll get it done this week. She was going to order a stress test but I just had one done in Aug of 2003. At the end of the appointment I gave the front desk all the information I brought... Cardio, Pulmonary, blood work, diet history along with the insurance referal and a letter from Dr. LaVaseure and Dr. Lane about medical nessesity and recomending bariatric surgery.
April 14, 2004 I did call Mr. Glass today at 10:25 am. I don't think it makes a difference, if nothing else I hope the next person that shows up with a spouce, Mr. Glass might ask privately if they want them in the room.

May 19, 2004 I HAVE A DATE! JUNE 9, 2004 Got the call at 3:30 in the afternoon on my way to my son's IEP.
May 20, 2004 They called and changed my DATE to JUNE 8, 2004!
May 20, 2004 I called my Cousin Cathy, she brought over a book so I can make out a Will. I've been explaining things to Butch and Elaina on what has to be done bill wise and for the kids if something should happen to me. I don't want them to be devistated and lose the house or anything. I want them to get a maid too so the house doesn't fall all on Elaina. I spent the night writing up some of the will and a couple Good Bye Notes. Nothing long just letting them know they mean the world to me and how special they are. I have the greatest kids and the best husband. Not amount of writing could ever have been enough to tell them whats in my heart so I'm gonna have to hope I've done enough to let them know. I know if I die they'll be sad but I hope they know I really believe its not an end and God will take care of them, they just have to trust Him.
May 21, 2004 Just made a reservation for my husband to stay at the hospitality room in the hospital. Its on the same floor I'll be on. Very reasonable price wise. $15.00 a night.
May 24, 2004 Had my pre op appointment at 2 pm ... Got a flat tire on the way and thought I screwed up my surgery date, but they were nice enough to let me in later at 3:30pm It went fast and we were back in time to see most of Christopher's Ball Game.
May 25, 2004 Had my Dietian appointment with Carrie in a group setting at 2pm and I was ON TIME! Got my products for the fast. Tomarrow is the start! Two weeks to go!
May 27, 2004 I'm HUNGRY! Wonder why MMPC does it this way BTC doesn't make you go through this.
June 2, 2004 Appointment to see how I'm doing on the fast. I see Matt at 10:30am. I lost 22.2 pounds
June 2 - 5, 2004 Made really bad choices and ate solid foods. I think I still lost 6 pounds but I still should have stuck to the program. I wish I had. God I hope this surgery gives me enough time to get rid of this addition I have for eatting. This is the only tool I think that can give me that chance.
June 6, 2004 I have been staying on the computer and doing well with my eatting choices today. I've only had a sugar free pudding and jello along with water
June 8, 2004 Arrive at Bloggett at 6 am for surgery at 9am!

July 2, 2004 I'm down about 50+ pounds since May 25. Started working out at the pool 1 week after surgery
July 27, 2004 I'm down about 70 pounds now. My back is feeling a little better now, I can walk further and stand longer. I still go numb in my legs if I stand more than 5 mins.
I't harder than I thought it would be to eat "real food" again. Still worth it!
