Meet with one at 4 & 6 weeks and again at 3 & 6 months

                                        

                                          
TWO WEEKS BEFORE SURGERY
10 points worth of supplements spaced evenly throughout the day. 150 grams of protein.
64 oz of water/ fluids (diet or decaffeinated)
2 chewable children's multivitamins with iron
This is done to shrind the liver and stomach size and prepar you nutritionally for surgery, also allows your body to adjust in preparation ofr surgery.

Each Item has 15 grams of Protein, if its 2 points it has more calories.

Oatmeal:         Cinnamon Apple
Meals:            Spaghetti & Vegetable chilli
Soy Nuts:       Smokey BBQ
Bars:              Coconut Almond,  Chocolate Chip,   Caramel Nut

ADDITIONAL Fluids
Water!
Decaf coffee and tea, Sugar-Free lemon-aids,   Decaf/Diet Soda Pop,  Sugar-Free Popsicles or Jell-O
Propel, boulin (has less sodium than the spaghetti)

                                                         
AFTER SURGERY
High Protein, Low Fat, Low Sugar, and Low Calorie -
Protein First! To much fat delays emptying of stomach
Vitamin and Mineral Supplements -
Iron, Folate, Vitamin B-12 and Calcium are the nutrients most affected.
One point items only, for 2 weeks

4 points worth of supplements spaced evenly throughout the day. 60 grams of protein
64 oz of water/ fluids (diet or decaffeinated)
2 chewable children's multivitamins with iron

ADDITIONAL Fluids
Water!

Real Cream Soups made with water or skim milk (strain or puree)
Pudding sugar-free made with skim milk
Yogurt (under 100 cals) Dannon Lite and Fit Creamy was recommended.
Milk skim, .5% or 1% Watch for gas/bloating/diarrhea (lactose intolerent signs)

Never use a straw, it can cause gas and streach your pouch
Pouch will be 1-2 oz to start. STOP eating when you feel food immediately
No BM for 3 days ... call doctor
Diarrhea ... call doctor

After 6 monts the pouch will be 6 - 8 oz.
8 weeks - 3 months ... carbonated pop OK diet only.
60 grams of protein after surgery, Each Day
Calcium Citrate with added Vitamin D will be added at 3 months 1,000 mg a day.
4 - 6 Weeks after surgery a Prenatle Vitamin will be prescribed.
At 6 Weeks FRUIT comes back in to the diet!!

Nausea and vomiting
Eating to fast, drinking while eating, eating more than the pouch can comfortably hold.
Eat slow, CHEW CHEW CHEW, never drink and eat at the same time, listen to your body if its full STOP.
Dehydration

Dumping syndrome

Food Intolerances
introduce foods back in slowly and it may take more than one try to be able to tolerate even common foods.

Overeating
Head hunger will still be there, This is just a tool and you have to make Correct Choices! Address emotional issues with help if you need to.

Stomach pain, ulcers, gastritis (an inflammation of the stomach lining) are complications that may require medical attention. Notify a physician if frequent stomach pain becomes a problem.
