| Oil on Canvas | ||
| Perhaps one of Lowry's more famous pieces, 'Man on a wall' can be linked closely to how Lowry saw the environment around him. I have created a mixed media representation of this, attempting to recreate the colours and the techniques used. Media: pencil, felt tip pen, fineliner. | ||
|
For objects in the foreground, I first laid down a layer of coloured pencil, then drew in the outlines with a black fineliner. For the wall, I used pretty much the same technique, except this time I used a bright red felt tip pen to enhance textures in the bricks. Objects in the background are sketched using lightly applied coloured pencil and are outlined with black fineliner. The sky consists of a lemon yellow and a sky blue watercolour pencil, which combine to give a cool effect. |

| 'Going to The Mill' | ||
| Oil on Canvas | ||
| This piece is typical of Lowry's street scenes in that there are many people milling around, going about their everyday business. It also demonstrates Lowry's use of one-point perspective (Lowry and perspective) to a certain degree, as well as his technique of fading buildings into the background. | ||
|
On the left is my ballpoint pen sketch of 'Going to the mill'. Although I have not included every single person walking around, I have tried to recreate Lowry's one point perspective technique. |

As part of my LS Lowry study, I focused on St Peter's Church in Hindley, attempting to portray them in much the same way Lowry would have. Select an image for a larger scale representation. CLICK HERE for details of my St Peter's church study. |
