Some may think that appointment to council is sudden. I assure you it is not. From the moment a person is admitted into Tempest, they blossom into the member they ultimately will become. They are observed and impressions are made. Sometimes there are certain qualities and characteristics that shine thorough. The virtues that are looked for are those that make a person a natural leader and guide. What are these traits? First and foremost is emotional maturity. The ability to deal with situations as they arrive and to maintain ones composure. To deal rationally with problems. To be fair and level headed when confronted with a conflict. To look for the good and bring it to the forefront. To give comfort and peace to a stressful atmosphere. To give of ones self and not ask for something in return. To be content to stay in the background and to be there for the guild when they are needed. Last but certainly not least is kindness and compassion. But you wouldnt have any of the above without that so it goes without saying. And there are still others that although they may have definate potential, circumstance made it impossible for them to be nominated this time around. But No One Is Ignored. As it is stated in guild policy, selection of council is at the discretion of the guild leader. The existing council is usually made aware of a new council nominee. The're input and recommendations are very valuable and they do have the guild leaders ear. Amazingly, there is never disagreement on selection of council. So that indicates that the decisons are the right ones to make. Yes, of course there have been sad situations when Council has not been up to fulfilling their duties, for whatever reason. In those situations Officers have been made to abdicate their positions. If you have that certain light that would make you shine as council, you will reach your potential. I can't say when your time will come, but no one goes unnoticed in Tempest. Council is selected from the heart. Not by asking or demanding or buying their way. Council is not picked because of how strong you are in the arena or how much you hunt. Everyone has a fair shot at council. As long as you have what it takes. So be happy for the ones that are appointed, because someday you will also be in that seat.
