ALL IMAGES OF MY COIN CAN BE DOWNLOADED FOR EDUCATIONAL AND PRIVATE FILES
USE IN ANY COMMERICAL SENSE IS A VIOLATION OF MY COPYRIGHT ON THESE IMAGES.
MAKING COPIES OR REPRODUCTION OF THIS COIN IS A VIOLATION UNDER COPYRIGHT
law and federal law on reproducing us currency, even if labeled as a copy.
IN EARLY 1861, THE SOUTH NOT WILLING TO ACCEPT THE NORTHERN LAWS AND
DEMANDS, AND THE NORTH WILLING TO GO TO WAR TO ENFORCE FEDERAL LAWS
PARTED THEIR WAYS, THE SOUTH SET UP ITS CONFEDERATE CONGRESS AND ISUSED
LAWS, ONE OF WHICH WAS TO SET UP ITS OWN CURRENCY.
IT ISSUED A DEGREE TO SEE HOW TO ISSUE ITS OWN CURRENCY. DIES FOR ITS
COINS WERE MADE BY NORTHERN ENGRAVERS. BAILEY WAS CONTACTED AND
HE IN TURN TURNED TO R. LOVETT. HE MADE PENNY DIES, QUARTER DIES AND HALF DIES.
HE SENT THE QUARTER AND HALF DIES TO NEW ORLEANS AS REQUESTED BY MEMMENGER AND TAYLOR.
THE PENNIES NOT HAVING TIME TO SEND HE HID. 4 HALFS WHERE MADE ,2 TO OFFICALS, TAYLOR AND MEMMENGER. THE OTHER TWO AS WORKING MODELS FOR THE HALFS TO BE REPRODUCED. I BELIEVE MINE IS ONE OF THE TWO TO OFFICAL;S, SINCE IT HAS THE T FOR TAYLOR AND A M FOR MEMMENGER. READ ON FOR THE REST OF THE STORY.

Of great interest this die trail of Lovett, he copied
the tira headpiece of cleopatra, with hanging tossel
see image below
UPON INCREASING PIXEL UP TO 1000, THE TIRARE SHOWS A SNAKE ,
LIKE A CORAL SNAKE WITH TEETH, ENGULFING WHOLE TIRARE
AND BIRD, THE SNAKE HAS RINGS ON IT.
ANOTHER LARGER PICTURE
ANOTHER POINT OF INTEREST ON THIS ORGINAL OBVERSE BY LOVETT
IS THE HAND OF LIBERTY ON OBVERSE. VISABLE 2 HANDS, box 1 THE ORGINAL
HAND, BOX2 ITS EXTENSION, LIKE A CLAW, EXTENDING TO SEAT OF LIBERTY.
LOVETTE WAS NOTED FOR COPING IMAGES , THE PENNY FROM A
POSTER IN SHOP WINDOW, FRENCH CITIZEN. THE QUARTER HAS SIMALAR WOMEN, ALSO
PENNY HAS IN BALES ON REVERSE OF CENT THE L,AND ALSO ON QUARTER
ON THE REVERSE.
HE USED A L AS HIS SIGNATURE HIDING THEM IN BALES ON PENNY,
IN REEDING ON MY OBVERSE, AND BETWEEN SHIELD AND CORN STALKS
ON MY REVERSE.IT IS HIDEN ALSO ON QUARTER.
ANOTHER UNDISPUTABLE PROOF THAT LOVETT MADE MINE,
HALF DOLLARS, AS WELL AS THE PENNY AND QUARTER
IS HIS F AND E LETTERS IN HIS ENGRAVINGS AS PROOF.

NEGATIVE VIEW OF CONFEDERATE SIDE
I MUST STRESS THAT MY COIN BELOW
ARE BEFORE 4 ACCEPTED COINS, OF NEW ORLEANS MINT, AND
THE VERY FOUNDATION BY LOVETT, OF ALL CONFEDERATE 1861 HALFS.
lOVETT'S COIN WAS EDITED IN NEW ORLEANS TO PRODUCE THE ACCEPTED
4 HALF DOLLARS, THUS ALLOWING THEM TO PRODUCE IN 50 DAYS THE
ACCEPTED HALF DOLLAR, WHICH WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE EVEN BY TODAYS
STANDARDS IN THE TIME FRAME OF 50 DAYS.
Now to my coin.
STATS OF MY COIN AND ANS AND RESTRIKES
THIS M ON MY COIN SHOULD NOT BE CONFUSED WITH OTHER M'S FOR
MIDDLE NAME OF HIS WIFE, THAT THAT IS PRESENT THROUGHTOUT
THE REST OF COIN, AS YOU WILL READ IN THIS WEB PAGE ON LOVETT.
SEE LOVETT FACES AND l'S .
At the beginning of the war
the Confederate treasury planned to issue
quarters, half-dollars and penny coins.
Pattern pieces for the half, and quarter were produced
and sent to the New Orleans Mint,
Insufficient supplies of metal in the South
prevented their production in any quantity.
They resorted to placing an order
for dies with a private northern minter
THIS WAS PRIOR TO NEW ORLEANS MAKING THERE HALF DOLLARS.
Dies sent that were made by Lovett,
who worked for Bailey, since he was known as a war supporter.
The Confederacy sent orders to New York.
A northern minter , Bailey, was chosen.
He prepared dies and struck coins as requested
Using Lovette as their engraver.
Pennies were found, more than likly done last
Buried in his cellar with dies, for fear
of being called a traitor, he hid them.
***See below info and page click on Lovett.***
THE NORTHERN COIN MINTER, BAILEY,
TO LOVETT, ENGRAVER,
TO NEW ORLEANS.
TO PETERSON , NEW ORLEANS ENGRAVER
Its the orginal confederate obverse and reverse
the obverse on ours is 28 mm , as is also the confederate side
28 mm. The ans and restrikes are 30 MM, thats why the only confederate side that tayor had , had to be expanded on hand press to 30 mm,
to match the federal obverse which is 30 mm, which was their
replacement , for the missing confederate obverse.
Many aspects of these coins coined in New Orleans, bear similar
aspects such as 1 over a 0, bubbles out of liberties mouth.
But there liberty was lost or taken by federal govt., forcing those
who made so called orginals to use federal obverse,
with lovett's variations.
The other Dahlonega mint specialized in gold coins
in a mountain town
Its locical, since control of new orleans mint was under confederate
control from the very beginning, and a port city,
dies sent through union lines would go to new orleans,
rather than a small mt. mint in georgia, and union lines.
This mint idenified by letter D at the time.
Mainly to strike gold coins.
See click below Lovett.
Bailey would not send dies by Lovett here, but to
New Orleans by ship.It was safer by far.
Identified by the L initial on the reverse.
Lovett was approached, when the cents appeared,
They reconized his work, at first he denied
any knowledge of such pieces.
The head copied from a picture in his store
The same head on pennies and quarters,
When he was confronted with the Penny,
he then admitted that he had made them,
Later hiding them fearful of the consequences.
He stating they were ordered in 1861 by csa,
and they were sent with dies, he did not say cente were sent
just quarters and halfs,

logic demands quarters and halfs, to help with paper crunch
just pennies would be a waste of time.
I believe pennies were done last, and not enough time
for him to dispose of them.
therefore never were sent with halfs and quarters to new orleans.
But the CSA did manage to mint a few coins.
In 1861, Mr. Robert Lovett Jr. of Philadelphia was
commissioned BY BAILEY for the C.S.A. to design,
engrave, and make pieces for the Confederacy
as requested in session of C.S.A. congress.
He copied the french Liberty Head
for the obverse of the penny, AND QUARTER.
Using nickel and copper, he made a few samples, ?
pennies found, quarters and halfs sent.
Confederate Half Dollars were struck at New Orleans in 1861,
from REVISED lovett dies, finalized by Peterson,
proof the similar aspects of the revised dies of Lovett.
The south before the war relied on the mint in phil. for their dies
then Peterson, then new orleans received from northern minter bailey.
added a T for taylor, M for Memmenger, and R for riddle, A for Ames,
Four coins of Halfs made, and ? for Quarters .
from the dies sent by Lovett. The time frame can have it
no other way, 50 days.
As the Civil War continued, the cost of the war loomed large.
All precious metals available in the South often made their way
to Europe to procure war goods. New orleans port used.
Lovett fearing prosecution for aiding the enemy,
stopped his work, and hid the penny coins and dies in his cellar.
QUARTERS AND HALF DOLLARS WERE SHIPPED TO NEW ORLEANS.
Penny dies were purchased later and used to make restrikes.
perhaps not enough time to ship pennies.
QUARTER DIES AND HALF DOLLAR NEVER FOUND.
BECAUSE THEY WERE ALREADY SHIPPED,
DIES SHIPPED ACCORDING TO LOVETT, to C.S.A.
PENNIES WERE NOT SHIPPED HIDDEN IN HIS CELLAR WHERE
THEY WERE LATER FOUND AND COPIED

OTHER IMPORTANT INFO FROM HOLDER OF CONFEDERATE QUARTER
QUARTER 1861
MY COIN HAS ON OBVERSE DFFERENT THA FEDERAL LIBERTY
1. Shield on obverse, does not have point as others.
2. After date of 1861 off to the right is a punched T.
a M as part of the coin above the first star, near leg,
not punched on obverse side.
This is an orginal C.S.A., obverse.with Lovett's trademarks
THE T FOR TAYLOR CHIEF COINER OF MINT,
THE M MEMMENGER, SEC. OF TREASURY C.S.A. .
WERRE REVISED LOVETT DIE COINS MADE AT NEW OELEANS.
THIS IS HOW THEY PRODUCED THE HALF DOLLARS IN 50 DAYS.
*********
WHATS STRANGE, HE DIED IN 1879, HIS RECORDS AND TOOLS SOLD IN TOP OF SHIELD ON CONFEDERATE SIDE IS A HEMOSTSAT It has a T, stamped is to the right of the date. The orginal letters cannot be found The descripition does not go into fine details. MY CONFEDERATE SIDE SHOWS A FLAKING OFF "***** "Mr. Lovett says that they were ordered in 1861, M CUT INTO OBVERSE PART OF COIN NOT STAMPED THAT IS HOW THE MINT IN NEW ORLEANS
4. Mine has 17 buds on the left corn stalk, not 19 as others.
***ALL OTHERS HAVE 19,INCLUDING RESTRIKES. and ANS COIN***
5. When flipped over top to bottom, most coins remain in upright positions
not so with mine, They reverse
themselfs, size is 28mm, the normal half dollar is 30,
The restrikes, and so called orginals are 30 mm, mine 28 mm
This accounts why a hand press had to be used,
To small for the coining press.
This was done to prove a new obverse,
since it was so similar to the federal obverse.
6. The T, I believe represents taylor,
The M,represents Memmenger. Two coins with the T
this is the one with M also, Memmenger's coin,
that went to Memmenger, it has a crack through date, and nose to rim.
mine has a fine crack from nose to rim,
AND ALSO CRACK THROUGH DATE AND HALF DOL.
CRACK FROM NOSE TO RIM
and from between liberty leg and first star,
seen under high resolution, on obverse the top of shield,
blank in the ans coin, mine has a forcepts type of tool,
A DOCTORS TOOL, TAYLOR WAS A DOCTOR
Perhaps with the T, wanted to show his trademark, he was a doctor,
An medical inst. in shield.A capital M, as part of the coin,
not stamped as T is.
Orginal, or copies that he said he made,
as stated in the Taylor to Wright letters
the letters that cannot be found and verified.
from Taylor to Wright, see below
from Wash.D.C. and Phil. The ones accepted
but not found, many have been stolen, lost,
or misfiled. stating many were submitted,
and only one chosen.
What was choosen, mine fits that description given
As stated in letters not located but accepted,
as the base foundation for the very exsistance
of 1861 conf. half dollar.
OF THE LOOPS DUE TO HAND PRESS AND METAL STICKING TO DIES
my flaked loops
for the South, and that the dies were delivered."
M IS FOR MEMMENGER
COULD MAKE HALF DOL. COINS IN 50 DAYS.
THEY DO NOT COPY THE TRUE OBVERSE OF THE C.S.A.
THE TRUE COIN IS 28 MM, WITH THE CHANGES BY LOVETT.
THE SO CALLED ORGINAL PROOFS, QUESTIONABLE
STATES NUMBERS LISTED IN LETTERS , NOT EXISTING AT TIME OF LETTERS
LETTERS CAN BE LOST IN TRANSIT, BUT INTERNAL RECORDS LOST
I DONT THINK SO, FROM PEOPLE WHO REQUESTED THESE RECORDS.
REQUESTS NOT FOUND.
IN A COURT OF LAW, THE FOUR ORGINALS WOULD BE
STRIPPED OF THEIE TITLE,` AND RESTRIKES BANNED
BASED ON LETTERS THAT CANNOT BE FOUND.
THE FACT THAT COINS COULD NOT BE MADE
IN 50 DAYS , UNSUMOUNTABLE BARRIER WITH THE EXCUSE
THEY SAY THEY WERE DOING THIS FROM JAN.1861 , IS ABSURB.
THEY MADE COINS 30 MM HALFS, WITH EAGLE REVERSES,
DIES WERE NOT MADE IN SOUTH,
BUT DIES WERE MADE UP NORTH, SENT TO SOUTH.
WHEN ORDERED BY CONGRESS OF C.S.A. TO MAKE DIES,
THEY WENT TO BAILEY, WHO WENT TO LOVETT,
WHO SENT THE DIES TO MEMMENGER TO TAYLOR TO PETERSON.
ALL THESE ORGINAL RESTRIKES OF 30 MM, IS A FRAUD ON THE PUBLIC
A STRECHED CONFEDERATE REFINED SIDE TO A FEDERAL OBVERSE.
WITHOUT LETTERS FROM TAYLOR AND WRIGHT AS PROOF, IT MUST BE STOPPED.
THE COIN COLLECTORS AND THOSE WHO RUN THE SHOWS, MUST BE CORRECTED.
IT SOUNDS LIKE A PORTAL WAS CREATED FOR FOUR COINS,
AND THEN THE DOOR SLAMMED SHUT, BUT THE DOOR HAS NO HINGES OR LOCK.
WHEN THERE IS DARKNESS, AND LIGHT PIERCES THE DARKNESS
THE DARKNESS COMPREHENDS IT NOT, BUT IT DONT MATTER, FOR THE DARKNESS
IS NOW NON EXSISTANT, FOR THERE IS LIGHT.
ON CONFEDERATE REVERSE
1. On confederate side ,shield lines are narrow
and not double lines.
2. Most pronounced difference, on confederate side,
below shield, on mine, loops are pelled off ,
MILLING,
MILLING OF ORGINAL COIN
WAS PUT ON BY PRESSURE OF THE PRESS,
IS THIS MILLING REGULAR AND UNIFORM, ANSWER , NO.
IN A HAND PRESS IT IS MORE LIKLY TO BE
BROAD STRUCK, CAUSING A RAISED RIDGE,
AND POSSIBLY MISSING MILLING IN PLACES.
specially in 30 mm opening on press.
The proof this coin is orginal, see jpg's attached.
It has 17 instead of 19 buds and flowers
on confederate side of coin.
The normal accepted federal half is 30 mm ,
as do the resrikes and ans coin,
This is because they fitted a federal obverse liberty, 30 mm,
to a 28 mm confederate reverse ,mine is 28 mm,
to small for the federal coin , a new obverse,
and the hand press was required.
i believe mine coin has with the 17 buds.
Smaller than the normal half, larger than a quarter,
is the orginal CSA obverse.
Die trails were not silver or proofs,
but in alloy and or white metal.
SOME SAY IT MIGHT BE CAST, SOME ITS BROAD STRUCK,
BUT DOES IT MATTER, ITS MEMMENGERS- TAYLORS COIN,
I DONT THINK LOVETTE CAST HIS COINS,NICKLE AND COPPER
mine is double HOW DO YOU DO THIS WITH A CAST
more than likly die trails, not refined.
MADE I BELIEVE from Lovette dies IN AN ANSWER TO
ORDERS BY C.S.A. CONGRESS,
LOVETT TO MEMMENGER, THAN SEC. OF TREASURY, C.S.A.
To TAYLOR, CHIEF COINER OF NEW ORLEANS MINT.
PETERSON REVISED LOVETTE DIES WITH THE T, M, R, AND A.
ADDING THE T TAYLORS TRADEMARK, AND THE FORCEPTS HIS TOOL, TAYLOR I BELIEVE COPIED THE HALF, BEFORE SELLING THE DIE AND COIN. If one of the orginals , FOUR COINS, GIVEN TO TAYLOR, END PART ONE PART TWO CLICK LINK BACK to ME
OTHER LINKS
AS A DOCTOR. MAKING THE FOUR COINS, TWO WITH T, FOR
GOVT. OFFICALS, CHOOSING AND KEEPING ONE,
SENT ONE TO MENNENGER
THE OTHER TWO AS A REWARD, TO AMES AND RIDDLE,
WITH THERE INATIALS ON THEM, AS THEIR REWARDS,
FOR A FUTILE LABOR, ONE TO MEMMENGER
WITH T AND M. AND HIDDEN L., MY COIN
THE # 2 ,IS OF 4 OR 12 ,
HE HAD THE DIES, SENT BY LEVITT, THEN REFINED, WITH INTIALS.
I ASSUME THE METAL WAS WHATEVER WAS AVAILABLE TO HIM,
BUT IF COINS ALSO SENT WITH DIES, THE PENNIES COPPER, NICKLE
MORE COPPER, THE QUARTER AS STATED BY CORDELL,
AND THE HALF MORE NICKLE THAN COPPER, AS MY COIN IS
OR THE DIE COPY, AND COIN COPY TO MASON ?
WHO THEN SOLD TO SCOTT, COPY .
NO WHERE IS SILVER MENTIONED FOR THE HALF, BUT LOVETT COINS
WERE IN NICKLE AND COPPER.
no matter, the value is in the millions.
letters taylor to wright cannot be located.?
the foundation for these four coins is missing.
The supreme test, the four so called orginals,
lets see their date
on the coins, the ans looks like
a 1861 1 over the 0, and this
is used for all references, if correct,
the other three dates must be the same,
Part of die by Levitt, with hidden L, or changed intinals.
Mine has a O, beneath the one on the right hand side,
sifting of coin, same as ANS coin, on left side.
All copies of Lovett's die trails.
ONE WITH R, ONE WITH A, AND
TWO WITH T, ONE HE KEPT WITH THE T
THE ONE WITH T AND M, HE SENT TO MEMMENGER,
it has a hidden L in corn stalks, and # 2.
