IN EARLY 1861, THE SOUTH NOT WILLING TO ACCEPT THE NORTHERN LAWS AND
DEMANDS, AND THE NORTH WILLING TO GO TO WAR TO ENFORCE FEDERAL LAWS
PARTED THEIR WAYS, THE SOUTH SET UP ITS CONFEDERATE CONGRESS AND ISUSED
LAWS, ONE OF WHICH WAS TO SET UP ITS OWN CURRENCY.
IT ISSUED A DEGREE TO SEE HOW TO ISSUE ITS OWN CURRENCY. DIES FOR ITS
COINS WERE MADE BY NORTHERN ENGRAVERS. BAILEY WAS CONTACTED AND
HE IN TURN TURNED TO R. LOVETT. HE MADE PENNY DIES, QUARTER DIES AND HALF DIES.
HE SENT THE QUARTER AND HALF DIES TO NEW ORLEANS AS REQUESTED BY MEMMENGER AND TAYLOR.
THE PENNIES NOT HAVING TIME TO SEND HE HID. 4 HALFS WHERE MADE ,2 TO OFFICALS, TAYLOR AND MEMMENGER. THE OTHER TWO AS WORKING MODELS FOR THE HALFS TO BE REPRODUCED. I BELIEVE MINE IS ONE OF THE TWO TO OFFICAL;S, SINCE IT HAS THE T FOR TAYLOR AND A M FOR MEMMENGER. READ ON FOR THE REST OF THE STORY.

Of great interest this die trail of Lovett, he copied
the tira headpiece of cleopatra, with hanging tossel
see image below

UPON INCREASING PIXEL UP TO 1000, THE TIRARE SHOWS A SNAKE ,
LIKE A CORAL SNAKE WITH TEETH, ENGULFING WHOLE TIRARE

ANOTHER LARGER PICTURE

ANOTHER POINT OF INTEREST ON THIS ORGINAL OBVERSE BY LOVETT
IS THE HAND OF LIBERTY ON OBVERSE. VISABLE 2 HANDS, box 1 THE ORGINAL
HAND, BOX2 ITS EXTENSION, LIKE A CLAW, EXTENDING TO SEAT OF LIBERTY.

LOVETTE WAS NOTED FOR COPING IMAGES , THE PENNY FROM A
POSTER IN SHOP WINDOW, FRENCH CITIZEN. THE QUARTER HAS SIMALAR WOMEN, ALSO
PENNY HAS IN BALES ON REVERSE OF CENT THE L,AND ALSO ON QUARTER
ON THE REVERSE.
HE USED A L AS HIS SIGNATURE HIDING THEM IN BALES ON PENNY,
IN REEDING ON MY OBVERSE, AND BETWEEN SHIELD AND CORN STALKS
ON MY REVERSE.IT IS HIDEN ALSO ON QUARTER.

ANOTHER UNDISPUTABLE PROOF THAT LOVETT MADE MINE,
HALF DOLLARS, AS WELL AS THE PENNY AND QUARTER
IS HIS F AND E LETTERS IN HIS ENGRAVINGS AS PROOF.

NEGATIVE VIEW OF CONFEDERATE SIDE

I have proof our coins are Lovett die trails,
these were used in New Orleans to produce the accepted 1861
of today.

I MUST STRESS THAT MY COIN BELOW
ARE BEFORE 4 ACCEPTED COINS, OF NEW ORLEANS MINT, AND
THE VERY FOUNDATION BY LOVETT, OF ALL CONFEDERATE 1861 HALFS.
lOVETT'S COIN WAS EDITED IN NEW ORLEANS TO PRODUCE THE ACCEPTED
4 HALF DOLLARS, THUS ALLOWING THEM TO PRODUCE IN 50 DAYS THE
ACCEPTED HALF DOLLAR, WHICH WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE EVEN BY TODAYS
STANDARDS IN THE TIME FRAME OF 50 DAYS.

Now to my coin.

At the beginning of the war
the Confederate treasury planned to issue
quarters, half-dollars and penny coins.
Pattern pieces for the half, and quarter were produced
and sent to the New Orleans Mint,
Insufficient supplies of metal in the South
prevented their production in any quantity.
They resorted to placing an order
for dies with a private northern minter
THIS WAS PRIOR TO NEW ORLEANS MAKING THERE HALF DOLLARS.
Dies sent that were made by Lovett,
who worked for Bailey, since he was known as a war supporter.
The Confederacy sent orders to New York.
A northern minter , Bailey, was chosen.
He prepared dies and struck coins as requested
Using Lovette as their engraver.
Pennies were found, more than likly done last
Buried in his cellar with dies, for fear
of being called a traitor, he hid them.
***See below info and page click on Lovett.***
THE NORTHERN COIN MINTER, BAILEY,
TO LOVETT, ENGRAVER,
TO NEW ORLEANS.
TO PETERSON , NEW ORLEANS ENGRAVER

Its the orginal confederate obverse and reverse
the obverse on ours is 28 mm , as is also the confederate side
28 mm. The ans and restrikes are 30 MM, thats why the only confederate side that tayor had , had to be expanded on hand press to 30 mm,
to match the federal obverse which is 30 mm, which was their
replacement , for the missing confederate obverse.
Many aspects of these coins coined in New Orleans, bear similar
aspects such as 1 over a 0, bubbles out of liberties mouth.
But there liberty was lost or taken by federal govt., forcing those
who made so called orginals to use federal obverse,
with lovett's variations.

The other Dahlonega mint specialized in gold coins
in a mountain town
Its locical, since control of new orleans mint was under confederate
control from the very beginning, and a port city,
dies sent through union lines would go to new orleans,
rather than a small mt. mint in georgia, and union lines.
This mint idenified by letter D at the time.
Mainly to strike gold coins.
See click below Lovett.
Bailey would not send dies by Lovett here, but to
New Orleans by ship.It was safer by far.

Identified by the L initial on the reverse.
Lovett was approached, when the cents appeared,
They reconized his work, at first he denied
any knowledge of such pieces.
The head copied from a picture in his store
The same head on pennies and quarters,
When he was confronted with the Penny,
he then admitted that he had made them,
Later hiding them fearful of the consequences.
He stating they were ordered in 1861 by csa,
and they were sent with dies, he did not say cente were sent
just quarters and halfs,

logic demands quarters and halfs, to help with paper crunch
just pennies would be a waste of time.
I believe pennies were done last, and not enough time
for him to dispose of them.
therefore never were sent with halfs and quarters to new orleans.

But the CSA did manage to mint a few coins.
In 1861, Mr. Robert Lovett Jr. of Philadelphia was
commissioned BY BAILEY for the C.S.A. to design,
engrave, and make pieces for the Confederacy
as requested in session of C.S.A. congress.
He copied the french Liberty Head
for the obverse of the penny, AND QUARTER.
Using nickel and copper, he made a few samples, ?
pennies found, quarters and halfs sent.

Confederate Half Dollars were struck at New Orleans in 1861,
from REVISED lovett dies, finalized by Peterson,
proof the similar aspects of the revised dies of Lovett.
The south before the war relied on the mint in phil. for their dies
then Peterson, then new orleans received from northern minter bailey.
added a T for taylor, M for Memmenger, and R for riddle, A for Ames,
Four coins of Halfs made, and ? for Quarters .
from the dies sent by Lovett. The time frame can have it
no other way, 50 days.

As the Civil War continued, the cost of the war loomed large.
All precious metals available in the South often made their way
to Europe to procure war goods. New orleans port used.

Lovett fearing prosecution for aiding the enemy,
stopped his work, and hid the penny coins and dies in his cellar.
QUARTERS AND HALF DOLLARS WERE SHIPPED TO NEW ORLEANS.
Penny dies were purchased later and used to make restrikes.
perhaps not enough time to ship pennies.
QUARTER DIES AND HALF DOLLAR NEVER FOUND.
BECAUSE THEY WERE ALREADY SHIPPED,
DIES SHIPPED ACCORDING TO LOVETT, to C.S.A.

PENNIES WERE NOT SHIPPED HIDDEN IN HIS CELLAR WHERE
THEY WERE LATER FOUND AND COPIED

MY COIN HAS ON OBVERSE DFFERENT THA FEDERAL LIBERTY
1. Shield on obverse, does not have point as others.

2. After date of 1861 off to the right is a punched T.
a M as part of the coin above the first star, near leg,
not punched on obverse side.

WERRE REVISED LOVETT DIE COINS MADE AT NEW OELEANS.
THIS IS HOW THEY PRODUCED THE HALF DOLLARS IN 50 DAYS.
*********

WHATS STRANGE, HE DIED IN 1879, HIS RECORDS AND TOOLS SOLD 3. Tree has branch like cross, while others just lines .

4. Mine has 17 buds on the left corn stalk, not 19 as others.
***ALL OTHERS HAVE 19,INCLUDING RESTRIKES. and ANS COIN***

5. When flipped over top to bottom, most coins remain in upright positions
not so with mine, They reverse
themselfs, size is 28mm, the normal half dollar is 30,
The restrikes, and so called orginals are 30 mm, mine 28 mm
This accounts why a hand press had to be used,
To small for the coining press.
This was done to prove a new obverse,
since it was so similar to the federal obverse.

6. The T, I believe represents taylor,
The M,represents Memmenger. Two coins with the T
this is the one with M also, Memmenger's coin,
that went to Memmenger, it has a crack through date, and nose to rim.
mine has a fine crack from nose to rim,
AND ALSO CRACK THROUGH DATE AND HALF DOL.

CRACK FROM NOSE TO RIM
and from between liberty leg and first star,
seen under high resolution, on obverse the top of shield,
blank in the ans coin, mine has a forcepts type of tool,

IN TOP OF SHIELD ON CONFEDERATE SIDE IS A HEMOSTSAT
A DOCTORS TOOL, TAYLOR WAS A DOCTOR

Perhaps with the T, wanted to show his trademark, he was a doctor,

It has a T, stamped is to the right of the date.
An medical inst. in shield.A capital M, as part of the coin,
not stamped as T is.
Orginal, or copies that he said he made,
as stated in the Taylor to Wright letters
the letters that cannot be found and verified.

The orginal letters cannot be found
from Taylor to Wright, see below
from Wash.D.C. and Phil. The ones accepted
but not found, many have been stolen, lost,
or misfiled. stating many were submitted,
and only one chosen.

The descripition does not go into fine details.
What was choosen, mine fits that description given
As stated in letters not located but accepted,
as the base foundation for the very exsistance
of 1861 conf. half dollar.

THAT IS HOW THE MINT IN NEW ORLEANS
COULD MAKE HALF DOL. COINS IN 50 DAYS.

THEY DO NOT COPY THE TRUE OBVERSE OF THE C.S.A.
THE TRUE COIN IS 28 MM, WITH THE CHANGES BY LOVETT.
THE SO CALLED ORGINAL PROOFS, QUESTIONABLE
STATES NUMBERS LISTED IN LETTERS , NOT EXISTING AT TIME OF LETTERS
LETTERS CAN BE LOST IN TRANSIT, BUT INTERNAL RECORDS LOST
I DONT THINK SO, FROM PEOPLE WHO REQUESTED THESE RECORDS.
REQUESTS NOT FOUND.
IN A COURT OF LAW, THE FOUR ORGINALS WOULD BE
STRIPPED OF THEIE TITLE,` AND RESTRIKES BANNED
BASED ON LETTERS THAT CANNOT BE FOUND.
THE FACT THAT COINS COULD NOT BE MADE
IN 50 DAYS , UNSUMOUNTABLE BARRIER WITH THE EXCUSE

THEY SAY THEY WERE DOING THIS FROM JAN.1861 , IS ABSURB.
THEY MADE COINS 30 MM HALFS, WITH EAGLE REVERSES,
DIES WERE NOT MADE IN SOUTH,
BUT DIES WERE MADE UP NORTH, SENT TO SOUTH.
WHEN ORDERED BY CONGRESS OF C.S.A. TO MAKE DIES,
THEY WENT TO BAILEY, WHO WENT TO LOVETT,
WHO SENT THE DIES TO MEMMENGER TO TAYLOR TO PETERSON.
ALL THESE ORGINAL RESTRIKES OF 30 MM, IS A FRAUD ON THE PUBLIC
A STRECHED CONFEDERATE REFINED SIDE TO A FEDERAL OBVERSE.
WITHOUT LETTERS FROM TAYLOR AND WRIGHT AS PROOF, IT MUST BE STOPPED.
THE COIN COLLECTORS AND THOSE WHO RUN THE SHOWS, MUST BE CORRECTED. IT SOUNDS LIKE A PORTAL WAS CREATED FOR FOUR COINS,
AND THEN THE DOOR SLAMMED SHUT, BUT THE DOOR HAS NO HINGES OR LOCK.
WHEN THERE IS DARKNESS, AND LIGHT PIERCES THE DARKNESS
THE DARKNESS COMPREHENDS IT NOT, BUT IT DONT MATTER, FOR THE DARKNESS
IS NOW NON EXSISTANT, FOR THERE IS LIGHT.

ON CONFEDERATE REVERSE
1. On confederate side ,shield lines are narrow
and not double lines.

2. Most pronounced difference, on confederate side,
below shield, on mine, loops are pelled off ,

MILLING,

MILLING OF ORGINAL COIN
WAS PUT ON BY PRESSURE OF THE PRESS,
IS THIS MILLING REGULAR AND UNIFORM, ANSWER , NO.
IN A HAND PRESS IT IS MORE LIKLY TO BE
BROAD STRUCK, CAUSING A RAISED RIDGE,
AND POSSIBLY MISSING MILLING IN PLACES.
specially in 30 mm opening on press.

The proof this coin is orginal, see jpg's attached.
It has 17 instead of 19 buds and flowers
on confederate side of coin.
The normal accepted federal half is 30 mm ,
as do the resrikes and ans coin,
This is because they fitted a federal obverse liberty, 30 mm,
to a 28 mm confederate reverse ,mine is 28 mm,
to small for the federal coin , a new obverse,
and the hand press was required.
i believe mine coin has with the 17 buds.
Smaller than the normal half, larger than a quarter,
is the orginal CSA obverse.
Die trails were not silver or proofs,
but in alloy and or white metal.

CAST COIN PICTURE

SOME SAY IT MIGHT BE CAST, SOME ITS BROAD STRUCK,
BUT DOES IT MATTER, ITS MEMMENGERS- TAYLORS COIN,
I DONT THINK LOVETTE CAST HIS COINS,NICKLE AND COPPER
mine is double HOW DO YOU DO THIS WITH A CAST
more than likly die trails, not refined.
MADE I BELIEVE from Lovette dies IN AN ANSWER TO
ORDERS BY C.S.A. CONGRESS,
LOVETT TO MEMMENGER, THAN SEC. OF TREASURY, C.S.A.
To TAYLOR, CHIEF COINER OF NEW ORLEANS MINT.

PETERSON REVISED LOVETTE DIES WITH THE T, M, R, AND A. ADDING THE T TAYLORS TRADEMARK, AND THE FORCEPTS HIS TOOL,
AS A DOCTOR. MAKING THE FOUR COINS, TWO WITH T, FOR
GOVT. OFFICALS, CHOOSING AND KEEPING ONE,
SENT ONE TO MENNENGER
THE OTHER TWO AS A REWARD, TO AMES AND RIDDLE,
WITH THERE INATIALS ON THEM, AS THEIR REWARDS,
FOR A FUTILE LABOR, ONE TO MEMMENGER
WITH T AND M. AND HIDDEN L., MY COIN
THE # 2 ,IS OF 4 OR 12 ,
HE HAD THE DIES, SENT BY LEVITT, THEN REFINED, WITH INTIALS.
I ASSUME THE METAL WAS WHATEVER WAS AVAILABLE TO HIM, BUT IF COINS ALSO SENT WITH DIES, THE PENNIES COPPER, NICKLE
MORE COPPER, THE QUARTER AS STATED BY CORDELL,
AND THE HALF MORE NICKLE THAN COPPER, AS MY COIN IS MINE I BELIEVE IS NICKEL , WITH COPPER TING,

TAYLOR I BELIEVE COPIED THE HALF, BEFORE SELLING THE DIE AND COIN.
OR THE DIE COPY, AND COIN COPY TO MASON ?
WHO THEN SOLD TO SCOTT, COPY .
NO WHERE IS SILVER MENTIONED FOR THE HALF, BUT LOVETT COINS
WERE IN NICKLE AND COPPER.

If one of the orginals ,
no matter, the value is in the millions.
letters taylor to wright cannot be located.?
the foundation for these four coins is missing.
The supreme test, the four so called orginals,
lets see their date
on the coins, the ans looks like
a 1861 1 over the 0, and this
is used for all references, if correct,
the other three dates must be the same,
Part of die by Levitt, with hidden L, or changed intinals. Mine has a O, beneath the one on the right hand side,
sifting of coin, same as ANS coin, on left side.
All copies of Lovett's die trails.

FOUR COINS, GIVEN TO TAYLOR,
ONE WITH R, ONE WITH A, AND
TWO WITH T, ONE HE KEPT WITH THE T
THE ONE WITH T AND M, HE SENT TO MEMMENGER,
it has a hidden L in corn stalks, and # 2.
SEC. OF TREASURY, THE PERSON WHO ORDERED THE
MINT TO MAKE DIES AND COIN.

In Taylors answer to war dept,if it is a true doc.,
he states he will send a specimen.
the word specimem implies an object ,

He states in his letter, copies
will be sent as soon as they are made for
the achives as requested , see CLICK taylors letter below.

It could be one of these copies, or an Orginal
since it is 28 MM.
which would make it even more valued.
not files as some have stated.

In the paragraph before he talks about the coin .
The four die trails were trials,
alloy and a base print, on a hand press

some say prove the copies was made,
the same letter that is one of the proofs
of the coin existance, states he is going to send a speciman
to the war dept.

Because the ans and restricks use a fe3deral obverse,
mine and Gerad's use the orginal confederate obverse 28 mm, not 30.

Why has no one addressed the issue
of taylors letters, location if found,
the source used to prove the existance of these coins
since the dies have since been were stolen or lost,
after seizure by federal govt. this is the primary
source of these coins. as to number and descripition. They must be found, many documents have been lost or
stolen, they are needed to see if they have been changed
to suit ones sales.
but the very source and those who requested them also cannot be found.

THIS IS MY OPINION, BUT MUST BE STATED,
LEAVING THE VIEWER TO MAKE UP HIS MIND.
Mason was from Philadelphia correct? as was Lovett?
If I was a coin collector and a local coin engraver died
and there was an estate sale, I would most likely be present .
Possible that Mason obtained materials to create the dies from
from Lovetts estate, even before he spoke with Taylor?
my opinion using materials used to make the dies in 1861,
to make Restrikes in 1879..
The rediscovery of half dollar coin came after the creator Lovett
passed on. Questionable acquisition of the coin and subsequent
change of ownership from Taylor to Mason.
In my opinion, Mason acquired Lovett's die making tools
and notes prior to Lovetts death.
I do not believe that Taylor release his coin to Mason.
using acquired Lovett's lettering stamps to create Masons coin.
This is supported by the added loops, and 2 extra blooms, and the changed
size, from 28 to 30 mm. This would also be supported by the
US Liberty image being used as a viable replacement for the specialized
Liberty used on Taylor's coin.
In my opinion, proof, Mason created the coins the coins are the missing
L and M engravings that could only be reproduce by Lovett.
I think, Maybe the reason the ANS rejected his, sale offer.

I will continue to look but the Records Keeper
of the McConnelsville Cemetary states the dates
on the new tombstone read Birth 1817 Death 1879.
There are no months or date used.
THIS IS THE YEAR THAT 1861 HALF DOLLAR EMERGED FROM MASON
ALLEGED FROM TAYLOR.

Confederate half dollar was unknown for many years,
Not until 1879 was it revealed by Dr.Taylor to the world ,
by his owning a specimen.
***"ACCORDING TO MASONS ACCOUNT.FROM NEWSPAPER ARTICLE"***

"Then in 1879 came another surprise.
After an article appeared in the Philadelphia Public Record,
January 2, 1879,
B.F. Taylor, M.D., of New Orleans, contacted E.L. Mason, Jr.,
a Philadelphia coin dealer,
to say Taylor had an original 1861 Confederate States
of America half dollar.
He stated that four examples had been coined,
that he had one,

one of the officers of the Confederate government
was given another, another went to Professor Biddle
of the University of Louisiana,
and one to Dr. Ames of New Orleans".

FROM JEFFERSON DAVIS ARTICLE
"Sir,I had a Confederate coin,
it was in my wife's trunk when it was
rifled by the Federal Officers
She on board the prison ship on which
she was detained at Hampton Roads
before and after my confinement
in Fortress Monroe.
The coin, some medals & other valuables
were stolen at that time, whether the coin
be the same which has been offered
to you as a duplicate I cannot say,
it is however not true as published
that it is now in my possession.
Regretting that I cannot give you
more exact information
on particular subject of your enquiry

"He ordered that new designs for half-dollars,
should be submitted.
Among several sent, and only one was approved .
When Louisiana seceded , it immediately aligned
with five other states .
Five states ratified the Provisional Constitution
Confederate States of America.
March 11, 1861 the final Constitution
Confederate States America was ratified by seven states,
original six , then Texas .
National Archives reveal that the mint
superintendent Elmore, was not never under the control
of Louisiana officials,
but rather the direction of ***C. G. Memminger; ***
Secretary of the Treasury for the
Confederate States of America.
The mint was under Confederate control,
all the time, from the very beginning.

The obverse of the coin
a representation of the Goddess of
seated Liberty, surrounded by thirteen stars,
denoting the States
from whence the Confederacy sprung,
DATE OF LETTER DOES NOT SUPPORT THIS,
PROBLEM THE 13 STATES WERE NOT FORMED AT TIME OF LETTER.
cont: on the lower rim beneath the figures, date 1861.
On the reverse there is a shield with seven stars,
representing the seceding States;
above the shield a liberty-cap,
and entwined around it stalks of
sugar cane and cotton, "Confederate State of America."
d passage through the collar was assured. Problems with
planchets sticking to the die
would be confined to the high relief
and reverse die.

Four coins were struck.
Taylor kept one and passed one, on to a government
offical by his letter.
We assume it went to Memminger, SINCE HE ORDERED IT MADE,
The other two pieces were given to Riddle(Biddle), and Ames.

ASK YOURSELF THESE QUESTIONS.
IS ORGINAL 4 COINS MENTIONED BY TAYLOR
SIZED THE SAME AS RESTRICKS, ANSWER NO.
ORGINAL CSA OBVERSE 28 MM.
sams as confederate side 28 mm.

THE ORGINAL 500 RESTRICKS ARE DONE BY HAND PRESS,
ON WHITE METAL,
SECOND 500 FUSED TO FEDERAL OBVERSE BY PRESS.
THE ORGINAL FROM N.O., WOULD NOT FIT
PROPERLY IN A COINING PRESS,
Some say due to high relief,
I say size 28 mm,
federal haves 30 mm.
SO THEY USED THE CORKSCREW HAND PRESS.
IF THEY WOULD NOT FIT ON A COINING PRESS
THEIR SIZE WAS DIFFERENT, 28 mm.

WEIGHT
THE OFFICAL WEIGHT192 GRAINS OF SILVER
10 % COPPER FOR A COINED DOLLAR

BUT DIE TRAILS WERE DONE IN WHITE METAL
NOT SILVER, THE FOUR STRUCK AT
NEW ORLEANS MINT WERE DIE TRAILS
only mason says silver trying to sell
his so called orginal from Taylor.
BULLION UNAVAILABLE, COINING STOPPED

THE ANSWER THEY WERE TRAILS.
SOME SAY THEY WERE PROOFS,
BUT A PROOF CANNOT BE CREATED ON A HAND PRESS
WITH A DIE THAT METAL STicks to THE DIE.

Normal milled edges are applied
during striking, the coin
when hit by the force of the press
stretches outwards from the centre
and into the collar around the planchet.
If this operation goes wrong
the milled edge will be malformed.
Such pieces are called broad-strikes
and often have an amount of the milling missing.

SIZE

THE DESIGN OF THE ORGINAL FOUR WAS
like unto A SEATED LIBERTY 1861
28 mm, not 30 mm, as the so called orginals are. WITH THE NEW CONFEDERATE SIDE, and new obverse.
does anyone think the CSA would use a federal 30 mm
obverse,an insult to their cause
they made their own, similar but different
as in my descripition of my coin, 28 mm, not 30 mm.

THE RESTRIKES WERE SHAVEN
FEDERAL COINS OF SILVER, JOINED BY
CONFEDERATE SIDE, DONE ON A COINING PRESS.
orginal obverse nerver found, lost 28 mm die, not 30mm.
confescated by federal govt., then lost or stolen.

ON CONFEDERATE ORGINAL FOUR,
IT STATES IN TAYLORS LETTER ,
DESIGN OF COIN WAS A SEATED LIBERTY,
NOT THE ACTUAL FEDERAL COIN.
NOT HAVING OBVERSE DIE, USED SIMILAR
FEDERAL OBVERSE IN FUSION, DIFFERENT SIZES
28 CONFEDERATE, 30 OBVERSE.
flipped coin reverses to show its a different coin.

SO TO STATE COIN IS SAME WIDTH AS FEDERAL
HALF DOLLAR IS WRONG, THE DESIGN WAS a
changed federal FEDERAL,WITH A CONFEDERATE REVERSE.
a total new half dollar.
THE OBVERSE A SEATED LIBERTY, NOT A SHAVED
FEDERAL COIN AS IN THE RESTRICKS. BUT ITS OWN DIE, 28 MM AS IN MY COIN.
descripition above. With 1 over 0 in date.
A HIDDEN L, OR A REPLACEMENT OF A LETTERR, OR A.
FOR THE L, TO AMES AND RIDDLE.

Cracked Confederate obverse,
containing a crack running from the coin's rim to
Liberty's nose and passing near the seventh star.
This can be attributed to the Confederacy's
control of the mint,
because this cracked die was used for the
four Confederate half dollars.
In 1861, Memminger ok'd a design for
the Confederate half dollar.
No government engravers worked in the New Orleans Mint,
the branch received dies produced by the Philadelphia Mint.
Although lacking engravers, the Confederate government,
eager to assert its self-sufficiency, WANTED ITS OWN COIN,ITS SIZE
DIFFERENT AND BOTH SIDES THEIR OWN DESIGN.

NOTE last paragraph of Taylors alleged letter,
"I will take pleasure in sending you
a specimen for the archives you represent.
Very respectfully, your obedient servant,

Please note: i can accept letters en route to wash. never making it there, and letters stolen in wash, but i cannot accept the people making
requests from Taylor, not being in the records as a request, forget about
the answer and request letter, they have no record of the requests,
ever being made.
Another flaw picked up by mr. corell's keen mind,
the 13 states in descripition, not even existing when coin was made.
He is a gentlemen, and gives the other side of story,
it may refer to 13 colonies, it does not say so.
Also how the coin was distributed "
In a true patterning of a new coin, several specimens
would likely have gone to key government officials in Montgomery.
The majority of coins would not likely have gone to private individuals,
as was the case here."

WHAT IS OF GREAT INTEREST TO ME,
IS THE TIME LINE.

ABOUT JAN 2 1879,A NEWSPAPER PRINTS AN ARTICLE ON TAYLORS COIN,
STATING ITS EXISTANCE FROM MASON,

INFO IS FROM MASON.

QUESTION, IF A MAN LIKE MASON WANTS
A COIN OR IS INTERESTED IN ACQUIRING A COIN,
WHY WOULD HE ADVERTISE IT
BEFORE ACQUIRING IT , AND RAISE THE PRICE.
UNLESS HE ALREADY HAS A COPY,
OR THINKS HE DOES.

They are found on grading sites without the last paragraph,
0n 20-20, on other coin sites,
TASMANIAN NUMISMATIC SOCIETY, PCGS,
but none with a date other than date in letter,
which is worthless.

complements of mr corell to me.

A copy like, except number of buds and flowers,my coin,
in lead can be seen as far back as april 17 1973,
thanks to research by by mr. corell.
who located this article for me.

Its been around , snuffed out by these
two letters, wright to taylor,
which may or may not be true, saying four coins made,
brushing aside paragraph of copies to be made,
I hope they can be found.

mine is not lead, but this coin has 19 buds
and flowers on corn stalk, mine has 17 , the orginal,
since the obverse is 28 mm

Mine is not lead, 17 leaves and flowers on mine, not 19, 28 mm on mibe not 30 mm

SO WHAT ARE WE LEFT WITH, A DIE OF OBVERSE,
WITH CRACK FROM NOSE TO RIM,
OF A SEATED LIBERTY 1861 DATE.
1 over 0 in date,
A REVERSE OF COINFEDERATE DIE WITH CRACK
THROUGH HALF DOL.
WEIGHT WOULD DEPEND ON MATERIAL AVAILABLE
A L FOR LOVETT HIDDEN, AT THE STRICKING OF 4 TRAIL COINS,
LETTERS WRIGHT AND TAYLOR CANNOT BE LOCATED,
AS WELL AS THE COMPOSITION OF THE COIN.
LOVETT USED NICKLEL COPPER,

Nowhere is grams,or grains mentioned, nor loops under shield.
composition of coin is not mentioned, nor size, only
shortage of bullion suapended printing after four coins,
leaving one to believe the weight
and composition is in question,

Why not 5 or 10.
What was the real silver content.
I understand the norm is 192 grains for half dollar,
or 412 dollar silver, but the shortage of bullion
affected this, who knows if all four weighed the same.
DIE TRAILS, NOT KNOWING MINT WOULD CLOSE ,GIVEN AS GIFTS TO
DEDiCATED WORKERS, FOR THEIR TIME AND EFFORT.INTIALS PUT AS A TOKEN,
AS ONE DOES ON A GIFT.
since the obverse is 28 mm
as is also the confederate side, 28 mm.
atotaly new coin,

Editor of the American
Journal of Numismatics, upon learning
of this coin and die, suggested that:
having been struck in the New Orleans Mint
by government officers,
with government tools, and ,
should be restored to its true ownership,
and that it be placed in the Mint Cabinet
NOT FOLLOWED UP BY MASON.

The obverse die, we hear, was claimed by the government;
why not the reverse also?
THIS is because taylor only kept the confederate reverse side,
if this is true, who knows.

To use scott as a mirror of the 4 coins struck ? is wrong,
refurbishing of coin dies is key.
he may of added or removed from orginal dies,

Of the three in possession , the john ford foundation ,
alleged to be davis,
Eric P. Newman Education Foundation, alleged to have ames coin,
RIDDLE(BIDDLE) coin where abouts unknown.
not showing there coin, and the ANS, ANS coin is used in all
alleged to be taylors,

THEY MUST BE COMPARED ONE TO OTHERS.

No proofs could have been struck, if there was a problem
with metal sticking to dies.weight questionable, no bullion,
reverse design based on restrick, questionable,
ANS without cross reference due to its date,
to another specimen is questionable,
more so with date on ANS coin, not verified to others.

Unnoticed (and not replaced) by mint personnel,
the US obverse die
had a crack running from the edge
of the coin to Liberty?s nose.
Following the production of these four coins,
a regular US reverse die
was placed in the coin press and produced
coins that show the crack
IT increasing in size with each
coining, mine is small
and one of the first produced.
As a result, while numismatists
can not distinguish among double eagles
manufactured by the US,
the State or the Confederacy, the increased die crack are referred to
as "Confederate" halves, as well as the four
with confederate reverses.

ASK YOUR SELF WHY ARE THESE COINS HIDDEN, CAN THEY BE DIFFERENT,
WHICH IS THE REAL ONE, I SHOW YOU MINE, I HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE.

CLIP SHOWING COIN LIKE MINE, BUT MINE IS NOT LEAD,
MINE HAS 17 BUDS AND FLOWERS THIS HAD 19 BUDS AND FLOWERS
